They got it done. The Pittsburgh Penguins did it differently this year in many ways, including allowing themselves to touch the Prince of Wales Cup. So did Mario Lemieux all those years ago–twice–and they went on to win the big one–Lord Stanley’s Cup.

  • The Pens are going to win the CUP,wings are in for a shock and the only one crying will be Hossa for leaving the team in search of a cup.

  • Crosby
    '09 Playoffs = 17 games...28 points (14G, 14A) = 1.65 points per game
    '08/09 Season = 77 games...103 points (33G, 70A) = 1.34 points per game

    Hossa
    '09 Playoffs = 15 games...12 points (6G, 6A) = 0.8 points per game
    '08/09 Season = 74 games...71 points (40G, 31A) = 0.96 points per game

Looks to me like Hossa could use some hockey lessons from Sid....
  • Typical response from a Crosby hater HP.....you can't criticize his performance or production because the facts won't support your argument, so you roll out your lame personal attacks on the guy.....which, quite honestly, say more about YOU than anything else.
  • Let's talk tears

  • this article is about hockey rod munch.
  • HarryPotter fell off the short bus...he's a little slow...take it easy on him...LOL
I think everyone is asking why he's even on this site, he obviously doesn't know anything. If he ain't whining or crying he's just makin' himself look stupid with all his idiotic comments.
  • I'd rather see the Pens win than the Wings... and im so glad the Pens beat the Canes, I. Hate. The. Hurricanes.... and I lived in Carolina for 4 years. (Sabres grudge from 06)
  • Didn't have an opportunity to see the game :( But man! all series they took them to school! Now, Who is going to buy me tickets to see them win the cup?
  • bring on the broken wings. LET`S GO PENS.
  • What will the Pens do when they play a real team like the Wings? No offense to Canes but they are not on the same level as the Pens. Even if Eric Staal was scoring the Pens were expected to handle them. Hey Malkin say hello to Lidstrom again. Zetterberg handles Crosby(same as last year) and than who do the Pens have. Nobody.
  • fluery.
  • It will be tough as the Wings throw wave after wave of offence at him.
  • nothing he hasn`t faced before. example capitals series.
  • You cant compare Washington depth to Detroit depth. Not even close.
  • We are Red we are White we are Detroit Dyno-mite!!! Let's go Red-wings!
  • Okay, that's it...I'm taking you both off of my favorites list. Ha, ha...
  • More like, both Datsyuk and Zetterberg to contain Crosby and Lidstrom and Hossa together trying to contain Malkin. That leaves Gonchar vs Chelios...My money's on Gonchar...LOL
  • All you do is stop frazen and zetterburg and the wings are done and dont expect lindstrom and dat russia back for the playoffs. And beside that diaper probably wont be back either. Two penguins player have more points than the dead wings team all together. New coach and more experence, the dead wings are old has beens, give 5-10 years and you wont beable to fill the joke or sell out no one left in hockey town all losing there jobs cant wait !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Have you been drinking?
  • I would personally enjoy Marian Hossa being denied the Stanley Cup at the hands of his former teammates, whom he publicly dissed when he stated he chose to go to a team that had a "better chance" of getting him the Cup. That would be the PEN-ultimate payback.

Wings fans can talk trash all they want about Crosby and the Penguins. They had better not underesitmate this team. If it ends up being Pens/Wings (which I expect it will), I pick the Pens in 6.
  • I can see how you would be pi$$ed about Hossa. That was a diss. However I dont underestimate the Pens and wont attack Crosby without reason. He and Malkin are great players but Wings have more depth and will shut them down like no team in the east has this year. Wings in 6.
  • Have you been drinking, the wings are all hurt, this years pens arent last years pens! Get real all the red wings depth is hurt and they looked like crap last night and they are old. And without Grand rapids they wouldnt be this far !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • "without Grand rapids they wouldnt be this far !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "? isnt that what depth is? And as for last night please The only thing keeping the Hawks close was great goaltending from Huet.
  • which is what they will get from fluery.
  • pens are healthy, wings are not.
  • Lidstrom and Datsyuk will be good to go on Saturday.
  • We will see those two player are your only hope, Malkin didnt score crap last year and it was all on crosby, this year they are both healthy and finding the back of the net more than the whole red wings team !!!!! I am sure if you keep praying maybe the team might keep their old asses skating with the penguins. No your farm team isnt depth, thats called scraping the barrel !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • "No your farm team isnt depth, thats called scraping the barrel !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "-So it's clear you are incapable of having a intelligent discussion. It's called depth and secondary scoring. Does your mommy know your on the computer talking to adults?
  • Are you serious it isnt even the red wings its the griffins !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And as far as the hawks go feel all good inside because the red wings beat up on a bunch of kids that will be kicking the red wings butts every year real soon. I bet you would feel good about beating up on a 70 year old man, I bet you are a lions fan right ???? I bet you like the yankees, 9ers and every other dynasty right. Also if you cant see that I am trying to get under your skin and it works, just proves a point.
  • 3 players(Helm, Leino and Erikson) does not mean its the griffins.Who did the Pens beat? The hurricanes. Even if Staal and Ward played good it was a rec game for the Pens. As for the other teams no I dont like them. Cant stand the NFL, NBA or the MLB. Bunch of roid monkies. Dont worry, your not getting under my skin. I am enjoying proving your points wrong. As for the Blackhawks kicking Redwing butt I dont see it happening. They are the ones in money trouble in 2 years.
  • No, the Penguins beat the #5 Flyers, #2 Caps and then the #6 Hurricanes. To suggest that the Canes are a weak team tells me that you don't know much about the Eastern Conference. I would recommend you go study up. Over the last 25-games of the regular season, the Canes picked up more points than any other team in the East aside from the Penguins. Both came from a non-playoff position in February to finishing #4/#6 in just 2 months. The Canes then proceeded to beat the #3 Devils and then the #1 Bruins before meeting the Penguins. Comparatively, who did Detroit have to dispatch? They beat the #7 Blue Jackets, then took 7 games to beat the #8 Ducks, and then #4 Blackhawks. Talk about your "rec" games.... I would suggest you tighten your seatbelt and gird yourself for an impending crash. I think the Red Wings will be hard pressed to beat the Penguins this season. I still call it Penguins in 6.
  • Wings up 2 to 0 lol. Sid no where to been seen. Penguins coach is gonna file a missing persons report.
  • Detroit is the only team good enough right now to overcome all the gift calls the pens always get. You breath on crosby to hard you get a penalty lol.
  • You can say what you want, the dead wing might need oxygen tonight, last game their faces were pretty red and I think they brought down the oxygen level at the joe !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Red faces and still won the game.
  • that they did. if pens lose tonight it`s over. they don`t have a snowballs chance in hell.
  • not over yet. the wings have lost the series after going up 2-0 twice! it could happen again. i hope!
  • Now its over.

The Russian Nightmare: Pens 7 - ‘Canes 4

In the eye of a white-out Game 2 storm, a flurry of towels and tinfoiled knuckles on a pseudo-Hanson brother with the real Dave Hanson in attendance, there was truly something in the air at Mellon Arena on Thursday night. The Pittsburgh Penguins and the Carolina Hurricanes shed the Game 1 pleasantries, and with the honeymoon over, [...]

CROSBY COMMITS ANOTHER HOCKEY NO-NO

So something crazy happened after the Pittsburgh Penguins finished off their sweep of the Carolina Hurricanes last night, and some of you won’t fully appreciate this, but…whatever dude. Canes forward Sergei Samsonov said the team's successful late-season run came after it finally developed a team identity.  And how would he define that identity? Ward: 'very minor' changes needed

What do the Hurricanes need next season to take the next step beyond the Eastern Conference finals and make a run at the Stanley Cup? Penguins Win Pennant

This is Syl Apps, Jr. He was part of the early "expansion" Penguins who could score some and they left a little too. Before Mario, the Penguins were a strange little team that never really won a thing. Greg Polis would win a car at the All-Star game, they'd run a tremendous offensive line out most years (Apps-Lowell MacDonald-Jean Pronovost, they called it the "...

Hossa Trade Has No Down Side

It seems there are two groups of Pittsburgh Penguins fans this morning: one whose members are drooling over the acquisition of Marian Hossa and one whose members are worrying about the assets traded to get Hossa. But, there really is no down side to this trade.

Penguins: Series not over yet

RALEIGH — The Penguins have the Hurricanes right where they want them, but that fourth and final series-clinching win is often the hardest to get. The Hurricanes needed seven games against the Boston Bruins in the last round of the playoffs after taking a 3-1 lead and by the time they arrived in Boston for the final game, it seemed the Bruins had stole away all momentum. But they...
