They got it done. The Pittsburgh Penguins did it differently this year in many ways, including allowing themselves to touch the Prince of Wales Cup. So did Mario Lemieux all those years ago–twice–and they went on to win the big one–Lord Stanley’s Cup.

The Russian Nightmare: Pens 7 - ‘Canes 4
In the eye of a white-out Game 2 storm, a flurry of towels and tinfoiled knuckles on a pseudo-Hanson brother with the real Dave Hanson in attendance, there was truly something in the air at Mellon Arena on Thursday night.
The Pittsburgh Penguins and the Carolina Hurricanes shed the Game 1 pleasantries, and with the honeymoon over, [...]
CROSBY COMMITS ANOTHER HOCKEY NO-NO
So something crazy happened after the Pittsburgh Penguins finished off their sweep of the Carolina Hurricanes last night, and some of you won’t fully appreciate this, but…whatever dude. So Sidney Crosby went up to accept the Prince of Wales trophy and…actually picked it up and skated around with it BUT DID NOT HOIST! Regardless of [...]

Jussi Jokinen will be a restricted free agent, but the forward made it clear today where he hopes to be next season — back with the Hurricanes.

Canes forward Sergei Samsonov said the team's successful late-season run came after it finally developed a team identity.
And how would he define that identity?
"Hard to play against," Samsonov said.

“That would definitely be really interesting,” said former Penguins winger Marian Hossa about meeting the Penguins in the Stanley Cup Final. It is hard to believe Dan Bylsma could have imagined things would have come to him this fast. While most think the series is over, [...]
Ward: 'very minor' changes needed
What do the Hurricanes need next season to take the next step beyond the Eastern Conference finals and make a run at the Stanley Cup?
Defenseman Tim Gleason said a "tweak" here and there, but no major changes. Goaltender Cam Ward said the same.
"I think it would be very minor," Ward said today. "I think we really had the right team to go all the way...
Penguins Win Pennant
This is Syl Apps, Jr. He was part of the early "expansion" Penguins who could score some and they left a little too. Before Mario, the Penguins were a strange little team that never really won a thing. Greg Polis would win a car at the All-Star game, they'd run a tremendous offensive line out most years (Apps-Lowell MacDonald-Jean Pronovost, they called it the "...

The Penguins themselves are in awe of both Crosby and Malkin. Pittsburgh has held its own it the face-off circle this series. Good teams have that killer instinct, and that is exactly what the Penguins demonstrated last night. Joe Starkey of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review thinks [...]
Hossa Trade Has No Down Side
It seems there are two groups of Pittsburgh Penguins fans this morning: one whose members are drooling over the acquisition of Marian Hossa and one whose members are worrying about the assets traded to get Hossa. But, there really is no down side to this trade.
Penguins: Series not over yet
RALEIGH — The Penguins have the Hurricanes right where they want them, but that fourth and final series-clinching win is often the hardest to get.
The Hurricanes needed seven games against the Boston Bruins in the last round of the playoffs after taking a 3-1 lead and by the time they arrived in Boston for the final game, it seemed the Bruins had stole away all momentum. But they...

Crosby
'09 Playoffs = 17 games...28 points (14G, 14A) = 1.65 points per game
'08/09 Season = 77 games...103 points (33G, 70A) = 1.34 points per game
Hossa
'09 Playoffs = 15 games...12 points (6G, 6A) = 0.8 points per game
'08/09 Season = 74 games...71 points (40G, 31A) = 0.96 points per game
Looks to me like Hossa could use some hockey lessons from Sid....
I think everyone is asking why he's even on this site, he obviously doesn't know anything. If he ain't whining or crying he's just makin' himself look stupid with all his idiotic comments.
Wings fans can talk trash all they want about Crosby and the Penguins. They had better not underesitmate this team. If it ends up being Pens/Wings (which I expect it will), I pick the Pens in 6.
