My problem with the Rangers are many...they bought their way again...and everyone knows how that turns out for the Rangers...usually not good. The Pens still lack defense...the Flyers are a year away. The Devils may have lost Rafalski and Gomez...but got much more physical on D...and up front as well. Parise scored over 30 last year...he is far from a sleeper but Andy Greene may be more of a sleeper honestly. The Devs got rid of two headaches...one that was slowing down (Rafalski) and one that only turned it on when he wanted to last year (Gomez). Team chemistry will drive them to a better fate than many think. It doesn't hurt that Brent Sutter is a damn fine coach...the best in the division. I won't guarantee the Devils finish in first but I won't be surprised either.

Because the Ranger failed in the past with big stars doesn't mean that they will never succeed again with big stars. I think the biggest problem the Rangers could face is mediocrity on the blue line.

The Penguins look good, but I still don't like Sykora especially since he scored half his points total in his first 15 games last season. Also I don't believe in Fluery. They will probably make the playoffs despite this.

The Devils still have Broduer and as long as he is still there they always have a chance, but how many pieces are they going to continue to loose and still win hockey games?
  • im a rangers fan but i try to remain unbiased to the best i can, I know everyone says the rangers are trying to buy their way, but they "sold" just as many players as they "bought," now ill still be the first to agree signing rissmiller and voros were grave mistakes, ones that the team will pay for, the team has players in Hartford that would flourish in the positions that voros and riss. are going to be in. They still did good otherwise; Naslund was a great get; he accepted 4mil which is less than what he made last year for what will probably be a better year, Zherdev was a great get and it will pay off with huge dividends, my only complaint is that Redden, who should fit in nicely with girardi, rozsival and staal is only along for the ride; had he really cared about playing for a cup, he would have taken a more reasonable amount of $$$ (3-4 mil per year). For the kind of money we payed redden, campbell was not a far reach, but he really wanted to play for chigaco for less than the 8mil offers he got from other teams, I respect that greatly, which is why I respect naslund for accepting the limited cash. Otherwise, there isn't much to complain about. I think the team will benefit from this.
    Pittsburgh:
No one felt more rage than me during the Pittsburgh series last season, and to be frank, nothing brings an evil smile to me more than the prospect of them struggling this season to contend for the playoffs. Now, here me out when I say that they will not succeed to the level that they did last season. Hossa was the X factor to that team, yes they have malkin, yes they have Crosby, yes they have a plethora of young players, but they can't do it alone. First of all; Fleury, who did pull it out of his hat durring the playoffs, is not marty, he is not the next great thing, and sooner or later he'll be back to his old self. Why they will not be as good: simply because their replacements for hossa and roberts were fedetanko and satan...something doesn't sound quite right about that...
