via Steve Gorten of the Sun-Sentinel, The Panthers have extended training camp invitations to a pair of NHL veteran defensemen Martin Skoula and Christian Backman. Both are former first-round draft picks. The Panthers haven’t signed either player, but both will fly with the team Saturday to Nova Scotia for the start of training camp Sunday in Port Hawkesbury, and will have a chance to earn a contract.
