Second-period goals by the Predators' David Legwand and Dan Hamhuis have given Nashville a 3-1 lead after two periods.
Legwand scored unassisted at 3:20, skating into the slot between Zach Boychuk, Brandon Sutter and Tim Conboy and zipping a shot past the Canes' Cam Ward. Hamhuis scored late in the period off a perfect feed from Michael Santorelli, who scored the Preds' first goal of the game. ...
Neither team could score in the first 17 minutes of the game, then there were two goals 58 seconds apart as the first period ended in a 1-1 tie.
Erik Cole gave the Canes a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal at 17:10, with assists from Zach Boychuk and Chad LaRose. But the Preds tied it 1-1 at 18:08 on a blast from the left circle by Michael Santorelli.

For some a chore, for some a chance
Preseason exhibition games are routine for the Canes' veteran players, almost like a necessary chore. Get in some ice time, bang a little, get the legs moving.
But for the younger guys in the Canes' locker room this morning, there was a nervous anticipation. There are just four preseason games and every minute of ice time is precious when you're trying to impress...
Nashville Predators 09/10 Season Preview
Much has changed over the years for the Predators, but two men have remained constant amidst all the turnover and those two men are David Poile and Barry Trotz. These two men have been in charge of the Predators since day one and their past work allows us a great insight into what to expect [...]
Now What Does Nashville Do?
from Dirk Hoag of On the Forecheck,
The good news for Predators fans is that GM David Poile was prepared to add a multi-million dollar salary to his roster, without sending a current player back in trade. While that budget might have had a little extra allowance considering that an elite, 21-year-old goal-scorer was on the market, this is a sign that Poile is indeed in a buying...

Bruins 2009-2010 Preview: Goaltenders
The Bruins had a wildly successful 2008-2009 season, finishing with a 53-19-10 record, but a disappointing second round exit at the hands of the Carolina Hurricanes. All in all, the team improved tremendously from the year before, and still looks to be an NHL powerhouse as we move into the next decade.
One big reason for [...]
The Chances Of Kessel To Nashville Are Slim
from Bob McKenzie of TSN,
I don’t doubt the Nashville Predators have significant interest in Boston Bruins’ restricted free agent Phil Kessel.
And I don’t doubt, all things being equal, Boston would rather move Kessel to Nashville and the Western Conference than to the division rival Toronto Maple Leafs.
But here’s why Nashville, regardless of what it...
