Rangers in need of top-four blueliner?
Tom Gulitti of NorthJersey.com believes that the New York Rangers haven't done enough during the off-season to address their need for a defenseman.
Avery Out 2-4 Weeks
Not only did the Rangers suffer their first loss of the season, but midway through the first period Ottawa Winger Chris Neil landed a hard hit on Sean Avery knocking him to the ice. Avery got up and was clearly favoring his left arm and immediately went to the Rangers locker-room. He would not return during the game. Neil was given an elbowing penalty for the questionable hit.
NHL Forum Discussions

This particular rumor has been around all summer, and while the adage "where there's smoke, there's fire" sometimes applies, there is still a problem with the deal - notably Jovo's no trade clause in his contract and his leadership position with the young Coyotes team.
In addition, Garrioch is the guy that "reported" that Brad Richards of the Tampa Bay Lightning would be moved at the NHL Entry Draft, which turned out to patently false. Unfortunately, I don't hold much weight to what he writes.
At the trade deadline later this season, the speculation of Jovo's status will resurface, and with good reason given his contract, but for now, I don't think it'll happen.
FWIW
This rumor is so old is sad.
