For the second straight year Sam Gagner has wet Oiler fans appetite for a top end forward to complement Ales Hemsky with his play down the stretch. Last year their was a buzz around the league with Gagner’s promising finish putting up: 7 goals and 17 points over his final 20 games 9 Goals and 28 points over his final 30 games Which projects out to 28 goals and 70 points over a full 82 or 25 goals and 77 points over a full 82 games. This year Sam has had a similar finish putting up: 12 goals and 25 points in his final 30 And a stunning 10 goals and 22 points over his final 20 games Projecting out to 33 goals and 68 points over 82 Or 40 goals and 90 points over 82 So how does he stack up against some of the other top teens to lace them up in the NHL? Gagner’s full season PPG’s work out to: 18: .62 19: .56 Crosby 18: 1.26 19: 1.52 Kovalchuk 18: .78 19: .83 Iginla 19: .61 Thornton 18. .12 19: .50 Nash 18: .52 19: .71 Spezza 19: .64 Marleau 18: .43 19: .56 Eric Staal 19: .38 VClav 18: .34 19: .84 If the above is any indication, we should have a solid 70 – 90 point guy for the next 12 -15 years…. That should give Oiler nation something to smile about during a dismal season.
