For the second straight year Sam Gagner has wet Oiler fans appetite for a top end forward to complement Ales Hemsky with his play down the stretch. Last year their was a buzz around the league with Gagner’s promising finish putting up:  7 goals and 17 points over his final 20 games  9 Goals and 28 points over his final 30 games  Which projects out to   28 goals and 70 points over a full 82  or  25 goals and 77 points over a full 82 games.  This year Sam has had a similar finish putting up:  12 goals and 25 points in his final 30  And a stunning  10 goals and 22 points over his final 20 games  Projecting out to   33 goals and 68 points over 82  Or   40 goals and 90 points over 82  So how does he stack up against some of the other top teens to lace them up in the NHL?  Gagner’s full season PPG’s work out to:  18: .62  19: .56  Crosby  18: 1.26  19:  1.52  Kovalchuk  18: .78  19: .83  Iginla  19: .61  Thornton  18. .12  19: .50  Nash  18: .52  19: .71  Spezza  19: .64  Marleau  18: .43  19:  .56  Eric Staal  19: .38  VClav  18: .34  19:  .84   If the above is any indication, we should have a solid 70 – 90 point guy for the next 12 -15 years…. That should give Oiler nation something to smile about during a dismal season.
