The Rangers were supposed to be better than this. That's the bottom line. GM Glen Sather added $86.75 million worth of talent up the middle in Chris Drury and Scott Gomez during the offseason and couldn't find a winger to pair with either, let alone two. While Years 1 & 2 of the Rangers' post-lockout revival have to considered resounding successes, Year 3 can't be described as anything but a failure, and a step-backwards for a franchise that has yet to prove it knows exactly where it's headed.
The Rangers gave their home fans one last excuse to cheer during a gutty Game 4 performance. I guess that's something. Of course, it'd be even nicer had the team made if off the bus for Game 5. Or was that really a Grade-A effort on Sunday afternoon?
Is it possible we never even saw the Rangers' 'A' game this postseason? Or was this just a 'B' squad to begin with?

Thoughts On a Failed Season | Part II
I hope some of you enjoyed Part I of my season-in-review which I posted yesterday. Today I'm back to take a look at what the future might hold for some current Blueshirts. I'll just post my...
Hockey Is Like Sex...
From The Sports Muffin blog:
I can't believe I'm saying this, but playoff hockey is SICK!!! After watching the frenetic pace of the Penguin-Ranger game today I have to admit that I may start watching more games as it gets closer to the Finals. I'm not sure why Americans have such a dislike for sports that have Goals. It must have something to do with the fact that...

Simon Gagne return unlikely
Over a month ago, I discussed the possibility that Simon Gagne, who has been out since February with concussion symptoms, might return to the ice if the Flyers make the Stanley Cup Finals. Well, with the Flyers a mere four wins away from the Stanley Cup Finals, it now seems there is little hope that Gagne will be suiting up any time soon.
When asked about Gagne's possible...

Drury, Rangers continue to roll
Chris Drury is known as Mr. Clutch. Lately, the first-year Ranger has been exactly that notching his club-leading sixth game-winner to help lift the resurgent Original Six club to its third consecutive win by a count of 4-2 over the Hurricanes Thursday night at the RBC Center. With his team out in fro...

A look at the hated Philadelphia Flyers
Do you think a temper or two could flare in this barn-burner ???
If you thought a Penguins/Rangers series was going to be rough, you ain't see nothin' yet. The Flyers are coming to town, and they are on a serious roll.
Two Teams in Black and White...
(I would've posted this earlier, but I had work. Sorry to steal Bryan's spotlight.)Pittsburgh is a tough team to beat. It's harder to beat the refs though. Today's game was atrocious. I was fine with Atlanta's disaster in refereeing, in which the first 7 minutes of the game took 30 to play, because the officiating was bad on both sides. But today's game reminded...
Rangers Beat Devils...
Am I really hearing positive things coming out of the hosts' mouths on the NHL Networks On the Fly?He really was disciplined tonight, and got the same treatment from the refs that he normally does. David Clarkson attacks him, he gets a penalty. Martin Brodeur chops him in the crotch, no penalty, of course. Those just aren't Avery Rules, those are Marty Rules. He has immunity...
