TEAMS: Pittsburgh Penguins, Detroit Red Wings
With the seconds ticking off in the last minute of Game 5 of the NHL Stanley Cup Finals, I stood only a few feet away from my television, quietly staring as the Detroit Red Wings were mere moments away from being inscribed as the 2008 Stanley Cup Champions. The Pittsburgh Penguins 1st period 2-0 lead, along with their hopes of extending the series, had slowly deteriorated. Examining the Productivity of 1st round draft picks (2000-2003)
Since the Detroit Red Wings won the Stanley Cup (albeit with less first round picks than most think), fans and analysts have continued to emphasize the importance of the NHL entry draft. With the draft just over a week away, it seems like the right time to examine how productive first round picks were from 1999-2003. I will not examine the 2004 draft and beyond, because not enough...
Western Conference Final Prediction: Detroit Red Wings (1) vs. Dallas Stars (5)
It's no secret, my doubt in the Detroit Red Wings. If you'll recall my 2nd round predictions, while I did have the Wings getting through the Avalanche, I mentioned the possibility of them falling apart in the Western Finals. The Wash Up 15th-21st October
- It happens every year (unless the Yankees win) but predominantly the teams competing in the MLB World Series have some of the lowest paid rosters.
