The Ottawa Senators played a nothing game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, going down 5-0 in a great game for James Reimer who had a career high 49 saves and a shut out. He deserved this one, as Reimer stopped everything in sight, tracking everything that came in his direction and as Toronto piled it on. Their star players, Kessel, Phaneuf and Lupul all came out to play. Ottawa’s star players, for their part, remained silent and frustrated and couldn’t even get a fight on the board.
The beginning of the game was promising for the two teams, as they both came out strong and two early power play opportunities came along for Ottawa. But Ottawa squandered both opportunities, as they had trouble managing the puck and lobbed off one pass too many, spoiling their chances at getting a clear shot on net.
