After a pretty quiet summer, the Milwaukee Admirals are finally making some moves. Today, the team announced that they are bringing back forward Mark Van Guilder, and have signed Andre Bouvet-Morrissette to AHL contracts.

Van Guilder has been a steady performer for the Admirals and will be returning for his fourth full season. The Notre Dame alum finished the last campaign with 12 goals, 15 assists and 27 points. He also chipped in 3 game winning goals, and has 51 points in 165 games as an Admiral. In addition to his on ice stats, he has also been named Milwaukee Admirals Man of the Year the last two seasons for his work in the community.

Bouvet-Morrissette will turn pro after spending 2 seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Last season with the Durmondville Voltigeurs he led the team with 39 goals, and tied for the team lead with 72 points. He finishes his junior career with 102 points in 128 games.

Instant Analysis: I'm really glad we brought back MVG. He's a great guy on and off the ice, and will probably be in line to have a bit of a captaincy role this year. I don't foresee him working his way into a 2-way NHL deal anytime soon...but he's solid in the AHL. As for Bouvet-Morrissette, it's great to see the team pick up someone who knows to put up points, and judging by what I found on YouTube he's not afraid to drop the mitts, but fitting his name onto my stat sheet will be a chore.
