Curnishley said: ‘Definitely the Parker deal because we were fourth in the Premier League we beat Chelsea 4-1 at The Valley and the next week Chelsea made a bid for him and it was impossible to keep him. ‘And I couldn’t spend the money [Parker cost Chelsea £10million] because we had three or four days before the window closed. We finished seventh and I think we’d have finished in the top five [if we'd not sold Parker] because of the squad we had.’
