Washington Capitals Captain Alex Ovechkin returned to the lineup Tuesday night as expected after sitting out the past two games with a minor shoulder injury. Ovechkin picked up right where he left off before his injury scoring two goals and adding an assist as the Washington Capitals blew past the New York Islanders 6-2.  All three of of Ovechkin’s points came on the power play with the goals coming as part of a five-goal second period for the Capitals.  The Captain showed no ill effects of the shoulder injury that kept him out of action for a week as he once again led all Capitals’ forwards TOI (18:41) and fired 12 shots although only four of them made it on net. Ovechkin reported feeling, “refreshed” after the game.  Assuming he is still feeling good today, the minor issue he was dealing with should be behind him.  The Capitals play four times in the next seven nights which should be a good test for Ovechkin.  Washington’s next game is Thursday against the Minnesota Wild.
