Found February 12, 2013 on Diehardsport:
Florida Panthers forward Kris Versteeg knocked Alexander Ovechkin down with a cross-check away from the play while he didn’t have the puck; the Washington Capitals forward took exception to this and went after Versteeg.  No real punches were thrown and Ovechkin just tried to pull Versteeg’s jersey and shoulder pads over his head.  Even the referees didn’t think it was much of a fight, both players received two-minute minor penalties for roughing. No reason for Ovechkin to be fighting anyways, the last thing the Capitals need with their season going horribly is to have their best player break his hand on a visor in a fight.  Ovechkin has fought three times in his NHL career, with the most recent fight against Brandon Dubinsky on December 12th, 2010.[YouTube]

Alex Ovechkin’s Most Favorable Pairing

Written by Clifford Santa Monica, Alex Ovechkin’s most favorable pairing, in my opinion, is with Niklas Backstrom–the center he did so well with during the lockout when the two of them played for the same team (on the same line)  in the Swedish Elite league. The two of them make each other better. But Adam Oates, for reasons that mystify me, would rather have the two of them...
LET'S GET IT ON

Fan gets frisky with gesture at game

Not much setup required for this video, but here is the bare minimum: the Florida Panthers hosted the Washington Capitals at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Fla. The game, as is often the case for Panthers games, was sparsely attended, which makes one fan’s reaction to the action on the ice that much more evident and hilarious. The visiting Capitals rallied from a 5-3 deficit in...

Florida Panthers Fan Humps the Air on TV After Team Blows Lead to the Washington Capitals (Video)

The Florida Panthers had what they thought was a safe lead of 5-3 over the visiting Washington Capitals last night.  They ended up blowing the lead and losing the game in overtime 6-5 to my Caps so I can't complain.  One fan in particular wasn't very happy with his team losing the game and decided to hump the air behind the scrum that was going on down on the ice.  No...

Are The Washington Capitals Getting Hot, Or Are They Just Playing Bad Teams?

Written By, Clifford Santa Monica, The two victories the Caps snagged (against the second worst team in the NHL, no less) isn’t a large enough sample size to permit me to state–as you just did—that this team may have turned a corner. I have a feeling that we’ll know a lot more following this evening’s contest against a Tampa Bay Lightning team which–though mired in a...

Dan Spiegel: Head Coach Kevin Dineen Was Fired...

...in a dream I had last night. Perhaps it is strange that I was dreaming, well in this case having a nightmare, about the Panthers. Back in 2006 when Tallon was GM of the Blackhawks he fired Trent Yawney after a dismal start to a season in which Chicago began its rebuild. When Tallon arrived in Florida in after the 2011 season he fired coach Peter DeBoer in favor of Kevin...

Gameday: at Florida, Feb. 12

Ahh, the sweet taste of victory.  Nice, when you can get it. (Clydeorama) The Washington Capitals are in Sunrise, Florida, Tuesday night to take on the Panthers as they attempt to build upon their 5-0 thrashing of this same team on Saturday night.  Florida, the defending Southeast Division champions, have done their best so far this season to encourage the idea that last season...

Capitals ticket prices up slightly despite slow start

By Dan Groob, TiqIQ The Washington Capitals are disappointing again, and fans are none too pleased. Coming off a 2011 season which saw the Capitals finish with the most points in the Eastern Conference, last season’s 7th place finish and second round exit represented multiple steps in the wrong direction. This year, things might even be worse. Continue reading "Capitals...

Great Moments in NHL Kisses

It's been a while since Andrew Gordon played for the Washington Capitals, but the few who saw it will forget when he kissed Marcus Johansson after scoring his first career goal during a victory on Dec 21, 2010. Thinking of that for some reason, and also Valentine's Day, inspired us to look up more video of NHL players kissing each other on the ice.The post Great Moments in...

Rapid Rewind: Comeback Caps. Capitals 6, Panthers 5 (OT)

Oppa Brouwer GWGagnam style! (ESPN) The Washington Capitals won a thriller in Sunrise, Florida, on Tuesday night, outgunning the Florida Panthers 6-5 in overtime at their home arena.  The Panthers took the lead twice following an opening goal from Mike Ribeiro, including a two-marker advantage in the third period that looked to have ice the result for the defending Southeast...
