The National Hockey League will have either the New Jersey Devils or the Los Angeles Kings hoisting the Stanley Cup in two weeks or less, who expected that?

The Devils, seeded sixth in the East squeaked by the Florida Panthers in the first round, winning in double overtime in Game 7.  In the East Semifinal round the Devils won four straight games after losing Game 1 against the Flyers to move onto the Eastern Conference Finals.  The Devils closed out the East Final series with the Rangers in six games by winning three straight to move onto the Stanley Cup Final.

The Devils will be competing for their fourth championship and first since 2003.  This is their fifth Final since 1995.

The Los Angeles Kings, seeded eigth in the West, is in the Finals for the first time since 1993.  The Kings secured the No. 8 seed despite losing their final two regular season games.

The Kings began their first round against the No.1 seed Vancouver Canucks but had no problem blowing through them with a 4-1 series win.  In the next two rounds the Kings kept their playoff momentum by sweeping St. Louis and beating Phoenix in just five games to advance to the Stanley Cup Final.

Now, one of these teams will be rewarded as the Stanley Cup Champion, considered one of the toughest tournaments in sports.

The Devils won both games during the regular season when both teams met.
