Sounds like a silly concept, right? A team is actually worse for getting their best players back. In the midst of a five-game losing streak, I’m wondering that as a fan. They have an overtime loss (which is a point), but that’s still a loss in my mind.  But what if I tell you that it may not be as crazy as it seems? During the Rangers’ last game before the All-Star break (Jan. 25 v. Florida) and their first game after the break (Feb. 1 v. Pittsburgh), players such as Ryan Callahan and Dan Girardi came back from various injuries. Brandon Dubinsky, Vaclav Prospal, and Erik Christensen returned shortly after. So why has this team lost four straight games (and five, overall) since key players made their return? A few semesters ago, I took Intro to Psychology in junior college and Dr. Richman explained a strange, but very true concept.
