Pittsburgh Penguins enforcer Arron Asham is likely done for the rest of this season.

Asham is likely to get a multi-game suspension from the NHL in the coming days. Asham cross-checked Brayden Schenn’s throat.

He received a 10-minute match penalty for his deliberate intent to injure Schenn. Schenn left the game for a short time after Asham’s actions, before later coming back to the game.

When Schenn was down after being cross-checked, Asham punched him in the head.

“I’m sure they’ve already been looking at the situation (at the league office),” acknowledged Penguins coach Dan Bylsma after the game.

The Penguins currently trail the Flyers 0-3 in their series. The next game is on Wednesday night in Philadelphia.

Shanny has his work cut out for him part II

Arron Asham should be gone for the rest of the NHL playoffs for this cross check and then punch on Brayden Schenn. There was nothing wrong with Schenn's hit on Paul Martin, yet Asham attacks Schenn. Penguins forward James Neal should have been thrown out of the game for this questionable blindside on Sean Couturier. The refs really blew this call and their inaction...

Making Sense of the Flyers – Penguins Mess – Neal, Asham and Craig Situations Explained

The Flyers-Penguins series has been a series for the ages already. With so much happening, especially in yesterday’s slug fest at the Wells Fargo Center, it was kind of hard to keep everything straight. There were things that happened in that game that I have never seen before. Rules were enacted that I didn’t even know existed. I suppose that’s a testament to the freaky nature...

It's cool to cross-check people in the face

This weekend was Free Cross-Check to the Face Weekend for the NHL Playoffs. First we have Alexander Ovechkin nailing Dennis Seidenberg right in the kisser with a wicked cross-check.And then Arron Asham nailed Braydon Schenn after Schenn ran Martin hard. Suspensions for either? No hearing for Ovie and Asham is, of course, TBD. That entire Pens-Pitt game was one giant...

Scoop Cooper: A puzzlement in Pittsburgh

The suddenly troubled Pittsburgh Penguins could well be short three forwards when they take to the ice on Wednesday for Game Four of their first round Stanley Cup playoff series with the Philadelphia Flyers which they are trailing three-games-to-none. Per a formal announcement by the NHL this morning, Arron Asham has been offered an in-person hearing Tuesday morning with the Department...

Penguins Turn Playoffs Into Circus – Flyers Prevail and Lead 3-0

Today was one of those days in sports that made me proud to be a Philly fan.  More importantly, it made me VERY proud to be  a Flyers fan. That isn’t something you always hear from a Philly sports fan, but today it is a distinction worth mentioning.  The Pittsburgh Penguins came out today, looking more interested in hurting people and disgracing themselves than actually winning...

Evening Line

Sunday’s Pittsburgh-Philadelphia game featured at least three shocking scenes in which the player’s clear intent was to deliver a blow the head: Arron Asham’s hit on Brayden Schenn and James Neal’s cowardly back-to-back attacks on Sean Couturier and Claude Giroux. That’s bad enough. But it seems there’s been at least one vicious head shot in every frickin’ game since...

Eklund: What the Heck Just Happened Out in Pittsburgh?

This is nothing we saw coming. Not by a country mile did I see the Flyers giving up 8 goals in Pittsburgh and winning two games, and the thought of putting 11 past Fleury???? Not happening. What we are seeing in this series is actually quite simple. When teams get scoring from their bottom six like this they simply can't be beat...If Brayden Schenn and Sean Couturier are...
