Found June 21, 2013 on NY Rangers Blog:
At 11am, a new chapter in the history of the New York Rangers will begin with the announcement of Alain Vigneault as the franchise's 35th head coach. But Pat Leonard at the Daily News says the personnel in attendance could tell a lot more about the future... "Richards is well-respected, and the Rangers would not put him in the position of standing at Radio City endorsing a head coach he never was going to play for. His presence, or absence, will shed significant light on what general manager Glen Sather has decided." ...obviously, as Leonard says, if Richards is in attendance it's pretty safe to say that he will not be bought out this summer (biggest jerkoff move in the history of sports if he is), but if he's not standing by Vigneault's side, I wouldn't automatically say he's gone. Could be busy training hard for next season. ;) ...to be honest, I hadn't thought about this scenario and it brings a little unexpected drama to the...

The search is over. The at times meandering hunt for a new head coach for all intents and purposes ended Saturday with Alain Vigneault agreeing in principle to helm the Rangers. Of course, it took the threat of an excellent competing offer, rumored to be for five years for the Blueshirts to act, but it's clear by the commitment they made Vigneault while ignoring other candidates...

Jan Levine: Did We Learn Anything From The Press Conference?

Alain Vigneault was officially introduced today as the Rangers coach. Heading in to the press conference, there was some speculation that players and/or management would be there, with those who did and did not attend enabling us to read the tea leaves and gather some information for the future. Of course, the best laid plans of mice and men went awry, as none of the players nor...

Should Rangers fans exercise caution over Alain Vigneault?

What set of players will AV have to cast an eye over next year? People argue that ‘acts’ such as those employed by John Tortorella eventually wear thin. Abrasive managers such as the former Rangers head coach usually outstay their welcomes. With the pending arrival of Alain Vigneault the Rangers will still have a man with pedigree and a coach with a completely different approach...

Arniel a Candidate for Vigneault Assistant

Yesterday, I posted that Ulf Samuelsson and Newell Brown have been mentioned as possible additions to Alain Vigneault's team behind the Rangers bench. Now, Larry Brooks at the New York Post adds a new name to the mix saying that Scott Arniel, the former Blue Jackets head coach and long-time friend of Vigneault, could be an option. Arniel remains under contract with the Canucks...

Will Mason Raymond follow Vigneault?

Could Raymond make the move to NYC? Earlier this week we had a look at Maxim Lapierre and whether he might be a player that follows his former coach Alain Vigneault to New York this summer. Another such candidate – and like Lapierre, a pending free agent – is Mason Raymond. The prospect of Raymond may excite fans a little more than the loyal foot soldier that is Lapierre. Raymond...

Whither Mike Gillis? It’s complicated Canucks fans!

Time to act It’s a complicated summer for Vancouver Canucks GM Mike Gillis. For the first time in his tenure, he faces the need to tinker with the core of this hockey club and make some important choices.
