Kuklas Korner:
On Wednesday, the Hurricanes prospects lost in their final round robin game to the Atlanta Thrashers prospects by the score of 7-3. The game was virtually meaningless, as Carolina was guaranteed to advance to the championship game no matter what. On Thursday night, they’ll face the winner of this evening’s game between Minnesota’s and St. Louis’ prospect squads.
Mike Murphy, who was the winner in the first two games, started the game and gave up two goals through two periods. Alain Valiquette started the third period and had a brutal time, surrendering five goals in the last period. Earlier today, NHL.com ran a nice article about Murphy.
Zach Boychuk and Matt Kennedy each scored for the third time in three games. Depending on which account is accurate, either Harrison Reed or defenseman Michal Jordan scored the Canes’ other goal.
