Nicklas Backstrom, who missed his first NHL game in Wednesday’s 5-0 victory, is sometimes mixed up with Minnesota Wild goaltender Niklas Backstrom because they share the same name with the exception of a ‘c.’ Other than that, they couldn’t be more different. Niklas is a goalie from Finland, while the Caps’ center is from Sweden.
Unfortunately, even the stat-keeping service, Stats LLC got the two mixed up, listing our hero Nicklas as having played one game for Minnesota this season.
