Bellator: Curran quickly knocks out Ricci

After engaging smart stand-up with Georges St. Pierre's training partner, Mike Ricci, Patrick Curran knocked Ricci down with a right hand punch and followed with a flurry of punches on the ground to finish him off at 3:01 in the first round. Curran, the cousin of WEC veteran Jeff Curran, knocked out Ricci's mouthpiece in ending the bout. This moves Pat onto the next round of Bellator's lightweight tournament. In earlier undercard, non-tournament action, Louis Taylor made an entrance with a quick knockout of Ryan Sturdy, also a student of Jeff Curran. He threw a headkick at 1:05 in the first round, knocking out Sturdy.
