TEAMS: Chicago Blackhawks, Dallas Stars, Phoenix Coyotes, Los Angeles Kings
Marian Hossa and the Chicago Blackhawks return to Phoenix in a redemption match-up after they were eliminated last year in the Stanley Cup playoffs.
The Coyotes dropped their season opener against the Dallas Stars 4-3. Radim Vrbata, former Blackhawk, was able to pot two goals in the effort but the Coyotes fell short due to Jaromir Jagr's four point effort in his debut as a Dallas Star. Mike Smith allowed four goals in the loss, making 84.6% of the saves which was a complete 360 from his effort last year in the playoffs.
Raffi Torres is still suspended, so don't expect too many fireworks to fly just yet until the two teams meet on February 7th in Phoenix.
