The Blues put one more point of distance between them and the Nashville Predators at Bridgestone Arena tonight winning in a shootout 3-2. Oshie scored the game-winner on a wicked backhand move to beat Rinne and Andy McDonald would add the insurance on a similar move.
The Predators got one point in the affair but should have held on to a one-goal lead in the second to get within one point of the surging Blues. Josi and Wilson would tally for the Predators while Stewart and Sobotka would score for the Blues in regulation.
Powerplay – 0 for 1, 0%
Penalty Kill – 1 for 1, 100%
Best Play of the Game: Brandon Yip pushing the puck out of the defensive zone to bust out a two-on-one that Roman Josi would sweep into the net to tie the game at one a piece.
Worst Play of the Game: Allowing Jason Arnott and Chris Stewart to dance around in front of the blue ice leading to the first goal of the night for the St. Louis Blues.
My Three Stars:
#1: – Jaroslav Halak – 25-27 on the night and stopping some point blank chances for the Predators during the game and in the shootout. Full marks for an amazing goaltending performance.
#2: – Vladimir Sobotka – Gritty play at the end of the second period got Sobotka the game-tying goal and the Blues would hang on to win in the shootout. Finished with 1 G, +1 and 3 SOG.
#3: – Roman Josi – Deposited a sweet two-on-one goal tonight, +1 and 3 SOG. Also finished with the 4th highest TOI for the Predators. Great sign of things to come from the rookie.
