NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) The St. Louis Blues have shown already that they can blow out a team. Now they've proven they can come back, even if it means winning in a shootout. T.J. Oshie and Alex Steen scored in the shootout, and the St. Louis Blues edged the Nashville Predators 4-3 on Monday night. The Blues won the Central Division last season, but the Predators won the season series 4-1-1 with three of those games going to a shootout. This time, the Blues had the only goals in a shootout that lasted only two rounds. Brian Elliott, who came off the bench in the second, stopped Craig Smith and Martin Erat to get the win. "Shootouts are funny because two years ago this was a good team," Blues coach Ken Hitchcock said. "Last year, we weren't. I'm telling you, those points now mean everything." Rookie Vladimir Tarasenko had a goal and two assists for St. Louis. Andy McDonald had a power-play goal and an assist, Alex Pietrangelo's goal tied it up in t...

Kent Huskins - A Poorly Researched Scouting Report

So Detroit’s new D man is Kent Huskins.  If you’re like me, you’ve heard of Kent Huskins but couldn’t tell you which sport he even played let alone a fair scouting report on the fellow.  If I was a respectable NHL reporter, I’d find out what a NHL scout has to say about him and analyize his statitics before writing a scouting report on him.  However, since...

Press Release: Preds recall Gabriel Bourque

Today the Predators recalled forward Gabriel Bourque from the Milwaukee Admirals...

How to Beat the Goalie: Halak

According to Andy Strickland, the St. Louis Blues head coach Ken Hitchcock will give Jaroslav Halak the nod in Monday's game against the Predators. The "How to Beat the Goalie" posts continue breaking down the St. Louis starter. The St. Louis Blues have a goaltending problem, however it is a good problem, opposed to the problem the Vancouver Canucks have with...

Three Minutes With: Preds prospect Zoltan Hetenyi…

During training camp last week, we sat down with Nashville Predators prospect Zoltan Hetenyi. The Hungarian goaltender was invited to Development Camp last summer and impressed the brass. As a result, he was offered a one-year contract within the organization. He’s been playing with the Predators’ ECHL affiliate, the Cincinnati Cyclones, ever since. His 2.33 goals-against average...

Comments from the couch after Preds 4-3 shootout loss to the Blues

There's not too many comments from the couch tonight, primarily due the the scheduling of a 5 p.m. start on a day when everyone in the Mid-state area that doesn't work for the government or a bank was either at work or heading out into rush hour traffic for the puck drop.I find it totally incredible that for the second game in a row that Bridgestone Arena had a sellout...

Wilson, Hornqvist shine despite shootout loss to Blues

Despite dropping their second consecutive game by way of a shootout to start the condensed 48-game season, the Nashville Predators have lots of reason to be optimistic for the next(More here)…

Predators sing the Blues in another shootout loss

Another shootout loss goes in the books for the Nashville Predators as two games into the season, they have lost in the shootout twice. The St. Louis Blues get another win as Vladimir Tarasenko shows his skills to the city of Nashville. It was a much better played game by the Predators as the rust and sloppiness is now out of the equation. “Today was a man’s game, Saturday was...

3rd period mistake proves costly in 3-1 loss to Nashville

I used to frequent a wide variety of message boards back in the day, one of the best was good ol' Fanhome.  Fanhome was a site that had mini-message boards for all 30 of the league's teams and each board had a tight knit group of posters and some forums were more friendly than others.  One team I must admit I have a weakness for is the Nashville Predators.  I guess when...

Blues-Predators Preview

Perhaps no team turned in as dominant an opener as the St. Louis Blues did. The Nashville Predators certainly did not measure up to that standard. These Central Division rivals made far different first impressions as they get set for Monday night's matchup in Nashville. St. Louis outshot Detroit 36-14 in a 6-0 home victory Saturday. T.J. Oshie had a goal and two assists and...

Predators 3, Wild 1

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Martin Erat took advantage of a costly Wild turnover, scoring his first goal of the season into an empty net as the Nashville Predators won their first game of the season, 3-1 at Minnesota. Wild goalie Niklas Backstrom came out to play a loose puck, but could not get it past Erat, who intercepted the puck and scored with just over eight minutes left in the third...

Predators Get First Win of the Season in Minnesota

The Preds snuck past the Minnesota Wild and Ryan Suter to get their first win of the 2013 abbreviated season. With goals by Spaling and Erat, Nashville competed all game but never looked like the best team on the ice. They had trouble handling Minnesota's top two lines and, in true Predators form, struggled to set up offensively. But none the less, the Preds avoided overtime...

Mason leads Preds to first win of season

There was a lot of build-up heading into Tuesday night’s game between the Nashville Predators and Minnesota Wild. All of the attention was on Ryan Suter playing against his former(More here)…

Photo Credit: AP Photo/Genevieve Ross Martin Erat’s game-winning goal at 11:45 of the third period would be the difference maker for Nashville as the Predators got their first win of the season, first road win of the year, and topped the Minnesota Wild tonight 3-1. Tonight’s matchup was the first time the Predators and Ryan Suter had met since Suter’s departure to the Wild...
