The St. Louis Blues took an affordable step today toward adding more scoring depth to their injury-depleted forward lines, signing former Colorado Avalanche winger Marek Svatos to a one-year deal.
Financial terms weren't disclosed and it's likely to be prorated to the start of the season.
Svatos, 28, had spent over five seasons with the Avalanche, and in his full rookie season (2005-06) scored an impressive 31 goals and 50 points, but sadly never returned to those heights again through a combination of injury and inconsistency.
He had played 19 games with Avangard Omsk of Russia's Kontinental Hockey League, netting 8 points. As he was playing in the KHL at the start of this NHL season Svatos will need to clear waivers, but given his declining production in recent years it's quite possible he'll likely pass through untouched by noon ET on December 29th.
