Alexander Steen will be in the final year of his four-year, $13.45 million contract when he takes the ice in 2013-14. Though the vast majority of fans are focused solely on the Alex Pietrangelo contract situation, some fans have already started questioning whether Steen is in the team's long-term plans.  Will the Blues look to sign Steen to a new contract before his current contract expires? According to Jeremy Rutherford, the Blues will do "everything they can" to get him re-signed.  Rutherford's comments come from his weekly (or almost weekly) chat with Blues fans. A user by the name of Keith asked if the Blues want to keep Steen around as he enters the final year of his contract. Rutherford responded positively, stating: "Yes, they will do everything they can to get him re-signed." Steen will earn $3,566,667 in 2013-14, but his hit against the cap will be $3,362,500.
