Only a short time after the Boston Bruins seasons ended, it was time to for the organization and fans to brace themselves for a busy offseason. Needless to say the early offseason has been everything everyone expected, rumors flying around and players deciding to part ways. Late this past week, the Bruins got word that Nathan Horton would not return, along with rumors that the team was shopping young Tyler Seguin. Going into the draft, the biggest concern was getting scoring defenseman because the lack of scoring in the post-season ended up leading to their downfall in the Stanley Cup Finals. Let’s take a close look at each player the Bruins drafted, and how much impact they will have in the near future.   Round: 2, Pick: 60 Linus Arnesson,D This prospect has some offensive upside, as he will not hesitate to join a rush. What makes him standout though is his sound defense game, as he is pretty solid on that end of the ice. With the Bruins being a defensive minded team, there is no q...

Replacing Nathan Horton

Boston, MA – It is a moment that many Bruins fans likely thought would not come so quickly. After Peter Chiarelli made a draft day deal that rescued Nathan Horton from the purgatory that is the Florida Panthers and brought him to a relevant, cup-contending hockey organization three years ago, it seemed like a match made in heaven. Horton, a big, skilled power forward with a...

Report: Horton to leave Bruins

It appears a key piece in the Bruins' 2010-11 Stanley Cup run will not be back in 2013-14. Nathan Horton has told Boston he wants to explore free agency, according to Bob McKenzie of TSN, who spoke to the winger's agent, Paul Krepelka. "It's not a financial issue, just a decision to move on," Krepelka said. Horton's unrestricted free agency rights are...

Lack Of Professionalism: 3 Reasons Why The Bruins Have Begun To Sour On Seguin

Tyler Seguin of the Boston Bruins was being shopped by team GM Peter Chiarelli which surprised most fans (maybe it shouldn’t have).  He also fired a shot across the 21 year old winger’s bow with these comments: “He’s got to commit his mind and focus to the one task at hand,” Chiarelli said. “He’s got to become more of a professional. You know what? I can say that about...

Peter Chiarelli Says Tyler Seguin Must ‘Become More of a Professional’

Ultimately, the Bruins weren’t incredibly busy at the NHL entry draft, at least not in terms of dealing players from their current roster. According to reports, however, they could have been. With a pretty deep top 10 or 15 picks, the B’s were reportedly listening to offers in an attempt to move into the first round and grab a high first-round pick. One player whose name was...

Report: Nathan Horton Visits With Columbus Blue Jackets

With the Philadelphia Flyers scooping up Vincent Lecavalier on Tuesday, Nathan Horton now becomes arguably the top winger available on the free-agent market. Horton opted not to return to the Bruins after three seasons in Boston, and it has not taken long for teams to come calling. Horton was in Columbus on Wednesday to meet with the Blue Jackets, his agent confirmed to The Columbus...

The Nathan Horton "Summer Of Love Tour" kicked ff on Wednesday in sleepy ole Columbus, Ohio. Horton's agent confirmed that his client met with the Blue Jax. Todd Cordell: Calgary Flames Still in on Tyler Seguin, Intrigued by Tyler Bozak

You can follow Todd on Twitter @ToddCordell! Jay Feaster couldn't land a big fish via trade at the NHL Draft, but that won't stop him from trying. The Calgary Flames may still be interested in 21-year-old forward Tyler Seguin, according to Darren Dreger of TSN. Dreger noted that while the Flames and Boston Bruins couldn't work something out for Seguin at the...

A Look At The Bruins 2013 NHL Entry Draftees

The 2013 NHL Entry Draft has come and gone. If you paid attention during the weekend, Bob McKenzie tweeted out that Boston would looking to move Tyler Seguin and it sent Twitter and the pink hats into a tizzy. What came out of it? Nothing. Bob McKenzie did his annual "huge hockey trade" tweet and was dead wrong, just like he was dead wrong about Iginla and just like he...

Bruins select Swedish defenseman, eye Lecavalier

The Boston Bruins, hit with the news they will likely be losing right wing Nathan Horton to free agency, are one of many teams interested in signing free-agent forward Vincent Lecavalier. The team met with the center Saturday in New Jersey. Recently released by the Tampa bay Lightning via a compliance lockout, Lecavalier is clearly a hot commodity on the open market and moved onto...

Ty Anderson: Live from Newark, where the B's are goin' bananas

I picked one hell of a day to decide to drive to New Jersey to cover tomorrow's NHL Draft, huh? Following a week that's simply crushed the hearts of Bostonians, the hits kept on coming this afternoon when the agent for B's top-liner and pending unrestricted free-agent Nathan Horton came out and confirmed that his client was "moving on" from Boston. This of...

Bruins’ Draft Picks Heavy on Europeans, New England Players Hoping to Eventually Break Through

The Bruins had become pretty accustomed to selecting big-name potential talent with first-round picks in the last few years. Over the past three drafts alone, the B’s nabbed Tyler Seguin, Dougie Hamilton and Malcolm Subban. So they were in a somewhat unfamiliar position Sunday in New Jersey when the B’s were without a first-round selection for the 2013 NHL entry draft. Boston’s...

A Look Back At Our Favorite Andrew Ference Photoshops

Since we never gave Andrew Ference a proper goodbye, that is what we'll do now. So we say goodbye to you, Captain Planet, and hope that wherever you land, you know that you will always have a home in Boston. ...

Christmas in July: The Predators and Free Agency

Photo by Steve Babineau/NHLI via Getty Images As giddy as James Nelson gets about the upcoming draft, multiply that feeling by around twenty and you’ll get a sense of what I find about the chance to improve a team through an influx of new talent available in free agency. If Poile was anxious and excited about the availability of Jones falling from the first position to the Predators...
