(Photo Credit: Boston Bruins) Though the 2012-2013 season finished about three weeks ago, the Bruins have yet to cease development for the upcoming preseason in September. The seventh annual Boston Bruins 2013 Development Camp hosted at Ristuccia Arena in Wilmington, Mass., featured many new, upcoming and hopefully future stars. The camp started on Wednesday, July 10, and wrapped up last Sunday on July 15. So who are the new recruits, draftees and hopefully future outstanding stars for the Bruins? Here was the roster for the Development Camp: Among these players, some were not originally planned to compete in the camp. Casey Bailey, Ryan Carpenter, Alex Cord, Derek Docken and Garnet Hathaway proved to be talented enough and competed on an invite-basis. With the sun blazing relentlessly over the Bay State’s sky, the players competing in the camp had a whole different challenge: hydrating and surviving through the heat. The beginning of the week set a steady and reasonable tone of weather with temperatures reaching 75 degrees Fahrenheit. However, the last two days, which proved to be the most intense, featured heat waves with the temperatures sky-rocketing up to 95 degrees Fahrenheit. Many of the players actually threw up because of the mixture consisting of tough workouts and scorching heat. If that does not show you dedication to the game of hockey, than I do not know what does. Heading into the Development Camp, the Bruins had already signed assistant captain, Patrice Bergeron, and starting goaltender, Tuukka Rask, to eight-year contracts last week. Meanwhile, General Manager (GM) Peter Chiarelli traded and made deals to acquire recent Pittsburgh Penguin, Jarome Iginla, and Dallas Star, Loui Eriksson. Needless to say, the past few weeks have showed little evidence that the Bruins cannot bounce back for the 2013-2014 season and that the team is off to a busy and successful offseason.
