Jarome Iginlia Slap Shot dot gif I’m not going to get my hopes up because it often breaks my wee-little heart, but the Bruins power-play might not suck anymore. The biggest change? Some dude named Jarome Iginla is now in a Bruins uniform. He possesses a nasty one-time slap-shot on the circle to circle pass that happens when the Bruins wing comes off the boards. With the passing touch of David Krejci or Patrice Bergeron, there’s a chance the Bruins power-play might be semi competent. Plus, Iginla’s presence opens the point more for open shots as defenses will worry about the one-timer from the circle. Overall, I’m probably a little too excited about the Bruins power-play. Let’s remember everyone. It’s the Bruins. Why is Torrey Krug a 65 in NHL ’14? Why is Joe Morrow rated higher than him when Krug is going to likely start the year with the big-club? Also, has anyone fallen from favor faster than Dougie Hamilton when it comes to love from the media? Let’s talk about Dougie for a second. At the start of last year, the hype was probably too much, especially from the media and the bloggers. Of course this guy certainly did not hype him up too much…whoopsie. Here’s the thing Dougie in year two is probably somewhere between what he was at the beginning of last year (really, really good) and where he was at the end of last year (not so much). The guy was a first-round pick, he is going to be twenty years old this year. Teams don’t just give up on first round talents at that age… Having said that. If Matt Bartkowski isn’t in the starting line-up on opening night next Thursday that will be a crime. Kid totally deserves it. My favorite off-season story might be Greg Campbell not signing anything injury related during an autograph signing earlier this month. His injury against Pittsburgh in the Eastern Conference Final has been immortalized into Boston-lore, but I don’t know if I would really want to be constantly reminded of that time I broke my leg in multiple places if I was him either. He’s also probably going to be in the line-up opening night. BAWSE. You know who also is? Patrice Bergeron who might be put together with duck tape and super glue at this point. He probably used half of his shiny new contract on hospital bills this off-season. Not a real hospital. More like a Steve Austin hospital where they rebuilt him into a six million dollar cyborg. We have the technology. David Krejci will lead the team in points and as a result, Jarome Iginlia will lead the team in goals. Does anyone else want Jagr to show up in trade-rumors in February besides me? New Jersey is going to suck, the Bruins are going to need a third line wing and he will probably be on the market to the highest bidder. I see no issue here. Tuukka Rask will be a Veznia finalist shutting up all the “Khudobbin was better” people. Tim Thomas will get cheered in his first game back, and if he doesn’t then people are stupid. I’ll probably have more thoughts as the first Florida game gets closer. The Bruins will win the Northeast Atlantic East… whatever we are calling our division now. They will probably at least reach the second round, but we all know the hockey playoffs are somewhat of a crap-shoot so predictions are stupid.

Jarome Iginla Uncorks Wild, Eye-Opening Slap Shot at Bruins Practice (Video)

Jarome Iginla has a good shot that usually hits the net. When he misses, however, it could make for a pretty hair-raising experience for those behind the glass. The Bruins forward got some extra work in on his one-timers Friday in Saskatoon in advance of the Bruins’ preseason finale against the Winnipeg Jets, and he was letting them go. That ended up producing some pretty awesome...

The great wall of Chara: A look at the Bruins big man

Zdeno Chara (Photo credit: Brian Babineau/NHLI via Getty Images)   Zdeno Chara is one of the most recognizable players in the NHL and coming in at 6-foot-9, 256 pounds, there is no doubt why this is the case. In addition to being the largest man ever to play in the NHL, Chara is also recognized as having the fastest slap shot among NHL players.  His record 108.8 mph slap shot...

Claude Julien Says Ryan Spooner Has ‘Opened Some Eyes,’ Adds Center Is ‘In the Mix’

Ryan Spooner has put the Bruins on notice with a very strong preseason, and it’s going to make for some difficult decisions in the coming days. According to Bruins coach Claude Julien, those difficult decisions are still very much up in the air. Spooner had arguably his best game of the preseason Thursday night in Winnipeg. He had a goal and an assist in the B’s 3-2 overtime...

Claude Julien Making Final Roster Decisions As Bruins Fine-Tune in Last Few Preseason Games (Video)

The preseason doesn’t mean much for predicting how a team will fare when the real games start, but it’s a very important time for many players as they look to secure a spot on the roster. The Bruins have a handful of such players as coach Claude Julien surveys the roster and takes a look at who he’ll roll out when the regular season starts Oct. 3. See what Julien and several...

Cam Neely to appear in Dumb and Dumber sequel, maybe alongside Milan Lucic

"Dumb and Dumber" is remembered fondly for a number of reasons. The Mutt Cuts car; the most annoying sound in the world; the fact that it came out during Jim Carrey's heyday in the mid-90s before he got kind of lame. And now that Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey are filming the long-awaited actual Dumb and Dumber sequel as we speak the first question on the minds of hockey...

Gregory Campbell, Shawn Thornton Among Those Deserving to Be Named Bruins Alternate Captain

The Bruins have only two preseason games left before their Oct. 3 opener against the Tampa Bay Lightning. In the last days before the regular-season begins, Claude Julien and his coaching staff are busy trimming the roster down to 23 players, but Julien must also decide who will join Patrice Bergeron and step into Andrew Ference‘s vacated alternate captain spot. This Bruins...

Boston Bruins: Ryan Spooner Making A Strong Case For Roster Spot

Niklas Svedberg stopped...

Boston Bruins Season Preview

After a great post season run, the Bruins found themselves fighting for their second Stanley Cup Championship in three years. Unfortunately, it was the near unstoppable Chicago Blackhawks who stood in Boston’s way, and left an empty feeling inside the B’s locker room as their shot at the Cup disappeared in game 6.  Will the Bruins end up in this situation again? Or does a...

Cam Neely, Milan Lucic Say They Have Not Signed on for ‘Dumb and Dumber’ Sequel

A pair of web sites reported earlier this week that Cam Neely will be reprising his role as Sea Bass in the long-awaited Dumb and Dumber sequel set to hit theaters next year. That announcement appears to have been premature. Neely reportedly told CSNNE.com’s Joe Haggerty on Friday that while he would love to don the trucker hat again, no specific arrangements with the producers...
