Thursday night's game between the Bruins and the Sabres may not have gone how most people predicted. This includes not only the score of the highly offensive game, but the bad blood between these two teams as well. The result of the game was a 7-4 win for Buffalo, and an angry and offended Brad Marchand. But Marchand wasn't angry with a Buffalo player, but rather the man on the bench, Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff. With 13.6 seconds remaining in the game and a solid 7-4 lead for the Sabres, Ruff called a timeout, a seemingly needless one, other than to stick it to Boston that the Sabres had won. Ruff backed up his point, saying that Lane MacDermid, a known fighter, was lined up next to one of buffalo’s “skilled players.” He claims that he didn’t want anything to go on between the two. Bruins head coach Claude Julien said that nothing was going to happen between the two, and that he wasn’t sure why Ruff took the timeout. Julien remained classy, saying that “he’s (Ruff) is enti...

Marchand Schools Us On Respect

“Yeah, [Lindy Ruff] wants to be a big shot, and that’s not the best play to do.  That’s pretty disrespectful.  If he wants to be like that, that’s fine. We just have to move on.” - Brad Marchand, after Ruff called a timeout with 14 seconds left in last night's 7-4 Buffalo win over Boston. I don't know about you, but I'm certainly relieved.  It's good...

Bruins Make Uncharacteristic Mistakes as Part of ‘Brain-Dead’ Defensive Effort in Loss to Sabres

BOSTON — The Bruins are a defensive team with a defensive-minded coach who has instituted a system rooted in playing defensive hockey. If you watched the Bruins play the Sabres on Thursday night, though, you would think those statements are nothing more than bold-faced lies. The B’s had by far their worst showing of the year Thursday in a 7-4 loss to Buffalo. It was an uncharacteristically...

Boston Bruins / Buffalo Sabres rivalry keeps intensifying

It seems as if each time the Boston Bruins face the Buffalo Sabres the rivalry between the two teams intensifies. In case you've forgotten what brought the rivalry to a boil back in 2011, here's a video reminder of the Milan Lucic hit on Ryan Miller. The two clubs still have plenty of anger brewing in 2013. When they squared off on the final day of January, the Sabres...

QCS Buffalo Water Cooler: Sabres Struggling Early On

This week’s Water Cooler features QCS writers Jason Davis and Brandon Hess Is the recent Sabres stretch indicative of the team’s product on the ice or are they just having a rough stretch early in the year? Brandon Hess: At the risk of severely overrating this team I’m going to say they’re just in a bit of a slump.  There’s too much talent up front for the scoring issues...

Tuukka Rask Erasing Last Shreds of Doubt That He’s Qualified to Be Bruins’ No. 1 Goaltender (Video)

With the (at least temporary) departure of Tim Thomas, Tuukka Rask is making the most of his opportunity to prove he’s a true No. 1 goaltender. The netminder has started five of the Bruins’ first six games this season and has yet to lose, compiling a 4-0-1 record and a very impressive .932 save percentage in the process. Of course, given the Bruins’ tight defensive system,...

According To His Dog, Tyler Seguin Was A Fireman For His 21st Birthday

A.B. As a dog lover I truly believe they are man’s best friend. Dogs are loyal and loving and are happy to see you every time you come home. That being said, dogs can also be bastards. Sometimes they rip apart your couch, sometimes they eat their own poop and sometimes they just won’t leave you alone. But Tyler Seguin’s brown lab has taken being a “bad dog’ to...

Six Thoughts From the Bruins’ First Six Games

Bruins goaltender #40 Tuukka Rask has been outstanding in the #1 role this season The Boston Bruins have gotten off to an excellent start in the lockout shortened 2012/13 season. Having only lost one game in overtime and none in regulation; the B’s have been performing at level similar to that of their Stanley Cup run in 2011. Here are six thoughts in reference to their start to...

Boston Bruins: First Two Weeks By The Numbers

The Bruins are 5-1-1- through their first seven games and sit in first place in the Eastern Conference, but don’t worry, there are a lot more numbers than that. Just in case you forgot: The Bruins are no longer Stanley Cup champions. The Wild have stocked up on talent. Tim Thomas is still hiding in a cave somewhere. The Sedin Sisters are still soft. And Zdeno Chara is still 6-foot...

Tuukka Rask Makes Toronto ‘Shutout City’ as Bruins Run Winning Streak to Seven Against Maple Leafs (Video)

It wasn’t always pretty on Saturday night, but a win’s a win for the Bruins. Tuukka Rask earned his first shutout of the year, and the B’s ran their winning streak to seven games against the Leafs. Chris Bourque scored the lone goal of the game, and the Bruins bounced back in a big way after enduring one of their worst defensive efforts in quite some time their last game. NESN...

Bruins-Maple Leafs Preview

The Boston Bruins knew they weren't going to earn a point in all 48 games this season, though the fashion in which their streak ended was a bit discouraging. That's quite the opposite feeling they had after each meeting with the Toronto Maple Leafs last season. Boston heads to Toronto looking to get back to its winning ways with a seventh consecutive victory in this series...

Video- A Five Point Night For Vanek

Brandon Prust vs. Steve Ott

Nothing makes me happier, than watching Hab's tough guy Brandon Prust work the Sabres tough guy wanna be Steve Ott like a clown. I guess if Steve Ott wants to continue getting pounded on a regular basis, more power to him. Last season, Prust had 20 fighting majors playing for the New York Rangers. This season, Prust already has eclipsed the four fight mark in a little over two weeks.

Is hockey about to take over in Boston?

On Tuesday Brad Marchand scored the game winner in a shootout. With the Patriots recently being dealt a painful and unexpected playoff loss, the Celtics under-performing and suffering a season ending injury to Rajon Rondo, and the Red Sox following up their worst campaign in 47 years with an uneventful offseason, the Boston Bruins have picked the perfect time to return to the...
