The Bruins made a minor move Friday afternoon, sending forward Carter Camper to the Blue Jackets in exchange for defenseman Blake Parlett. Parlett has four goals and 14 assists this season for AHL Springfield. The Rangers signed the undrafted blue-liner to a minor league contract out of the Ontario Hockey League in 2010, then traded him to Columbus last April as part of the blockbuster deal that sent Marian Gaborik to the Blue Jackets. Parlett has yet to appear in an NHL game.

U.S. Navy Sailor Has Emotional Reunion With Family At Bruins Game

The Boston Bruins frequently honor local military heroes during games in Boston with an “8-Spoked Salute” on the jumbotron. During Saturday’s matinee matchup with the Senators, however, the moment was a little different (and a whole lot more special) than usual. Justin Strausser of the US Navy surprised his family with a homecoming a week earlier than expected, creating a very...

Bruins need healthy McQuaid after break

The Boston Bruins are the top rated defensive team in all of the National Hockey League - which isn't all that surprising until one stops to consider that they are doing so with a seemingly bottomless well of young defensemen led by the gigantic and intimidating veteran blue liner nicknamed "The Condor".So loaded are the Bruins on the blue line that they could...

Bruins' Eriksson ok to play after having teeth "bashed in"

For certain, there is a more medical-sounding diagnosis for a player losing his Chiclets, but Claude Julien's layman's description works just as well.Boston Bruins' forward Loui Eriksson, already the poster child for upper-body injuries in the National Hockey League, suffered "bashed in" teeth in the Bruins' 3-2 overtime loss in St. Louis on Thursday...

Bruins Enter Olympic Break Playing Best Hockey In The League (Video)

The Boston Bruins head into the Olympic break as the hottest team in the NHL. After boasting an 8-1-2 record in the past 11 games, the Bruins have played some of their best hockey when it would have been easy for them to play their worst. The B’s have faced their fair share of adversity this season and they have dealt with plenty of injuries to key players, but despite all of...

Olympic break a non-issue as Blue Jackets stay focused on winning

The Columbus Blue Jackets are on a roll. In 2014 they have gone 12-5-1, including a string of 8 wins in a row. They are in contention for a playoff spot as they sit just three points out of third place in the Metro division and four points out of second with a game in hand. "We've started to find our groove," said Blue Jackets forward Nick Foligno. But as of Saturday...

Zdeno Chara’s bed at Sochi is hilarious

Much has been made of the various problems encountered in the days leading up to the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. Unfinished hotels, stray dogs, toxic water, and of course, the bathroom problems. It’s enough to make someone just want to fall asleep and forget about it. Except if you’re 6’9″ Olympian Zdeno Chara. The Boston Bruins defenseman, who will be part of Slovakia’s...

Berkshire Bank Faceoff: Loui Eriksson Good To Go As Bruins Face Senators

BOSTON — Boston Bruins forward Loui Eriksson has had a rough year when it comes to injuries. So when he took a stick to the face on Thursday night against the St. Louis Blues, the Swedish winger had to be thinking “Why me?” yet again. However, Eriksson was able to avoid a long-term injury this time around. While he did spend a good part of his Friday in the dentist’s chair...

Travis Yost: Stop the Fight

Right around the time the Boston Bruins sent Shawn Thornton out to log some garbage power-play minutes in the third period, I knew Boston was delivering the hockey equivalent of a mercy kill. You know: "We have to play these minutes, but we'll try not to score any more goals." That, quite arguably, is the most embarrassing thing that can happen in professional sports...

Ty Anderson: Seven's Deadly vs. Sens

Boston Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask wanted to start today’s game, but the B’s said no, opting to give the franchise netminder a breather before Sochi. It proved to be the right move as the Bruins didn’t need in net to rip Craig Anderson and the Ottawa Senators a new one this afternoon, ending their pre-Olympic season on a high note by way of a 7-2 beatdown. For...
