Johnny Boychuk's goal put the B's up 3-1 in the third
The Bruins beat the Rangers 3-1 in their season opener at
the Garden. Fresh off the work stoppage this game was fast paced and very
physical. Bruins lit the lamp first when Lucic buried a rebound off a Krejci
wrist shot at 14:14 in the first. Paille tipped a Cambell shot that ended up
hitting the post and going in off of Lundqvist in the second to put the B’s up
2-0. Brad Richards got the Rangers on the board on a funky wrist shot that beat
Tuukka just before the half way point in the game. There were a couple of nice
scraps in the second. Thornton got the best of Mike Rupp and Greg Cambell went
blow for blow with Stu Bickel. Both Bruins were undersized and held their own.
Johnny Boychuk put the Bruins up 3-1 in the third when his shot was tipped by a
Ranger and found its way to the back of the net. The Bruins never looked back
and finished the game with a strong defensive effort. The Bruins outshot the
