The Boston Bruins brought the energy in Game 3 against the Detroit Red Wings en route to a 3-0 victory at Joe Louis Arena. After the commanding victory, NESN’s Billy Jaffe broke down the three biggest takeaways from the game. Jaffe noted the way the B’s dictated the play in the first period — with Dougie Hamilton and Jordan Caron both scoring in the opening frame — their strong performance on the penalty kill, once again, and the surprise scorers who contributed Tuesday night. Check out the rest of Jaffe’s postgame analysis in the video above.Filed under: Boston Bruins, Boston Bruins Video, NESN Sports Today, NESN Video, Stanley Cup Playoffs, Top Stories, Video

Bruins’ Scoring Depth Making Difference As B’s Take Series Lead

The Boston Bruins know what it takes to win in the Stanley Cup playoffs. They know that at or near the top of the long list of recipes for potseason success is balanced scoring. The B’s have gotten plenty of that in their most recent first-round series games. The Bruins took a 2-1 series lead on Tuesday night when they wrestled back home-ice advantage with a 3-0 win over the Detroit...

Daniel Paille Participated In Optional Practice, No Timetable For Return

The Boston Bruins held an optional practice Wednesday at Joe Louis Arena and injured forward Daniel Paille was on the ice. Paille has not played since April 12, when he was on the receiving end of a nasty hit from Buffalo Sabres defenseman Jake McCabe at the TD Garden, suffering a head injury. He has been skating for nearly a week, but there’s not word on when he’ll return....

Felger calls out Marchand for faking injury

Brad Marchand drew a tripping call on Detroit defenseman Brendan Smith after skating into a leg-on-leg hit to his left leg. When falling to the ground, Marchand clutched his right leg, forcing Michael Felger to believe the winger was faking. That action rubbed Felger the wrong way. "Brad, if you're going to be a weasel," said Felger, "If you're going to...

Rask nearly hit with an octopus during national anthem (GIF)

Tuesday was a very good day for Tuukka Rask and the Boston Bruins. Rask posted a shutout, and the Bruins took a 2-1 lead in the series over the Red Wings with a gorgeous 3-0 victory in Detroit. Seeing as it was the first playoff game in Detroit this season, the fans came a bit rowdy, and, as is customary in Detroit, they sent their octopi flying over the glass, and onto the...

The Bruins' Roster Is Like A Box Of Chocolates

Forrest Gump said it best when he stated "Life is like a box of chocolates--you never know what you're gonna get." The Bruins' roster has been like a box of chocolates during this postseason, because you never know who's going to put up points. Justin Florek and Reilly Smith surprised fans everywhere when they scored the first two playoff goals for the Bruins...

Bruins Still Have Room For Improvement Despite Taking Series Lead

The Boston Bruins are halfway to advancing to the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs. They have home-ice advantage back. Yet there are still ways in which the B’s can be even better. The B’s were very good Tuesday night as they won 3-0 in Game 3 of their first-round series with the Detroit Red Wings. On the surface, it was a near-perfect road game, especially for the postseason...

Three Boston Bruins Appear On Jimmy Fallon’s ‘NHL Superlatives’ (Video)

Imagine seeing these guys in your high school yearbook. The 2014 Stanley Cup playoffs are in full swing, and “Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon took that opportunity to take jabs at several NHL players, three of them Boston Bruins, in Tuesday night’s “Superlatives.” The humorous spot features Bruins defenseman Dougie Hamilton winning “Easiest To Replicate As A Bobblehead”...

Marchand to Twitter: ‘You Know Nothing’

Brad Marchand took a hit from Brendan “Let Me Fight Chara” Smith last night near the offensive blue line. He got hit on one knee but favored the other while getting up, causing a firestorm on twitter. I hope Marchand is nominated for an Oscar after that acting job. Somewhere Leo DiCaprio sobs. — Pezident's Trophy (@PezDOY) April 23, 2014 But after the game, Brado had...

Bruins blank Wings 3-0 in Game 3

DETROIT (AP) -- Tuukka Rask finished with a 23-save shutout to give the Boston Bruins a 3-0 win over the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday night for a 2-1 playoff series lead. Dougie Hamilton and Jordan Caron scored in the first period, and Patrice Bergeron added an empty-net goal late in the game. The Presidents' Trophy-winning Bruins are ahead for the first time in the opening-round...

Bruins Looking For Another Fast Start In Game 4 Against Red Wings (Video)

The Boston Bruins dominated the first period of Tuesday night’s Game 3 by scoring two goals in a six-minute span against the Detroit Red Wings. The early scoring took the Joe Louis Arena crowd out of the game and allowed the Bruins to relax and play their physical style of hockey that wears down opponents over the course of 60 minutes. Another fast start in Thursday’s Game 4...

Brad Marchand Confuses Which Leg Ails Him After Being Tripped By Brendan Smith

Hockey players (or any kind of athlete, really) faking an injury to draw a call is nothing new, but if you’re going to play pretend you might want to make sure you embellish with the correct body part. Brad Marchand failed to follow that rule of thumb on Tuesday night in Detroit when he went down after being tripped by Red Wings defenseman Brendan Smith. The contact falls on Marchand’s...

Bruins Marchand Responds To Critics

Just about 24 hour after Minnesota Wilds' Matt Cooke took out Colorado Avalanche Tyson Barrie with a knee on knee hit it would be Red Wings defenseman Brendan Smith with a similar hit himself on Bruins Brad Marchand, only this time after initial outrage at Smith for being reckless on social media turned on Marchand claiming it was a dive and he was faking it.  Bro if you...

ECQF Game 3. Bruins at Red Wings. ☆

I feel like I need to rant before every preview. This time it’s not the sack tapping of Milan Lucic that is pissing me off, it is the arrogance of Bruins fans. Okay, let me change that last sentence – it is the arrogance of ****** Bruins fans. I follow a lot of Bruins fans on Twitter and most of them are knowledge, die-hard, fantastic people to talk puck with. Then you have...
