The Rivalry Continues
Tonight will be the first of four games between Boston
and Montreal this year. The season
series begins in Canada
at 7:30 p.m. (ET).
The Bruins (6-1-1)
and the Canadiens (6-2-0) are
both off to hot starts in the mini-season. The early success of both teams will
boost the intensity of the game and will ignite a playoff atmosphere at the Bell Centre in Montreal.
Boston owned Montreal
last year winning 4 out of 6 games including the last 4 in a row.
After an embarrassing 7-4 loss at home against Buffalo the
Bruins avoided a two game skid by squeaking out a win versus Toronto
1-0 on Saturday. A loss tonight would knock them out of first place and they could drop down to third in the division.
The Bruins should be ready to play after having a few days
off to rest and heal. Regardless of how good the Habs are or aren’t playing
Claude Julien knows how tough of a game it will be and that his guys will need
to be performing at their highest level.

After eight seasons, which included four All-Star appearances, a pair of Vezina Trophies and a Stanley Cup, the Tim Thomas era in Boston has come to close.
This came according to the Bruins on Thursday afternoon, as Boston traded Thomas to the Islanders for a conditional second-round draft pick in 2014 or 2015. Thomas is sitting out this season, but in his time minding the net...
WHAT YEAR IS THIS?
On Wednesday night, Will Smith made an appearance at the Bell Centre in Montreal for the game between the Canadiens and Bruins. Why he was in Montreal is uncertain, but he definitely got hooked up with some great seats in a box for the old school Original 6 rivalry.Smith was featured on the big screen and the DJ played one of his old school tracks “Gettin Jiggy With It” over...
THE FAMILY JEWELS
Before the start of Wednesday night's Montreal Canadiens/Boston Bruins game, Montreal goaltender Carey Price was practicing guarding some warm-up shots from his teammates. Sadly for Price, one shot got away from center Lars Eller and hit Price in a very sensitive area as he tried to make the save: Price would end up being okay and started the game in goal for Montreal.
Hopefully, Nemo isn’t the only storm about to hit Boston.
Tyler Seguin has been overdue for a breakout in terms of goal scoring, and the floodgates might have begun to open on Wednesday night against the Canadiens. Despite playing well and at times appearing to be the best player on the ice for much of this season, Seguin had just one goal to show for his efforts — and an empty...
Habs, PK Subban has always been a pain in the ass, hopefully the Bruins show him who's boss
Wednesday night we may see one of the greatest games this season when the Bruins travel up to Montreal to face their best friends the Habs.
Montreal is no joke this year, well as of now. They own a 6-2-0 record with 12 points, clawing at the Bruins to take over the North East. They...
The Providence Bruins have taken the pledge.
The P-Bruins became the latest professional sports team to join in the effort to end homophobia in sports, an effort that is being led by the You Can Play Project. The ongoing project, created by Philadelphia Flyers scout Chris Burke (son of former Maple Leafs general manager Brian Burke), was built to honor the memory of Chris’ brother...
Tyler Seguin celebrates after scoring the tying goal in the third period of Boston’s comeback win over Montreal.
For the 718th time in the last 88 years, the Boston Bruins faced off against the Montreal Canadiens last night at the Bell Centre. In the latest addition of the NHL’s most storied rivalry, two of the top teams in the Eastern Conference were at their best, but it was...
Bruins trade Tim Thomas rights to the Islanders for a conditional pick. — Renaud Lavoie (@RenLavoieRDS) February 7, 2013 … not sure where the Islanders go from here but the Boston Bruins are officially done with Tim Thomas. In the end it will ultimately be a cap thing for both teams. Will we ever [...]
Boston Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today, February 7, that the team has traded goaltender Tim Thomas to the New York Islanders in exchange for a conditional second round pick in 2014 or 2015. Chiarelli will be available to discuss the transaction via conference call at 6:15 p.m. ET today. Call-in details can be found below.Thomas, who captured the Vezina and...
Ha! We were trying to think of a way to write the headline so it didn't sound too juvenile and not make a dick joke.
The reason: Take a look at the video at the bottom. In it, you'll see Montreal Canadiens goalie Carey Price get the "Wind" knocked out of him in warm ups as he blocks a wrist shot from one of his own players.
The problem: He missed and the puck...

On February 5, 2013 the Colorado Avalanche claimed Montreal Canadiens forward Aaron Palushaj. Palushaj had been put on waivers a day earlier after being cleared to play, and it finally looked like the Hamilton Bulldogs were going to get some much needed offensive relief.
Palushaj was acquired by former Habs GM Pierre Gauthier from...
We all knew this day was coming, we just didn't know when. Today is that day. Vezina, Conn Smythe and Stanley Cup Champion Tim Thomas has been traded to the New York Islanders, the Land of Misfit Goalies.
Reports out there are correct: #Isles have acquired G Tim Thomas for a conditional 2nd-rounder in either 2014 or 2015.

I have had enough of watching this ******* Bruins power play. You know, if this was something new to the season, I'd be able to handle something as vile as the Bruins going on a 5-on-4 and not being able to enter the zone, but we're looking at a deficient power play for the past three season. Three-*******-season of a power play that has looked lost, sloppy and uncoordinated...
