Game notes:
The last time the Flyers played a game that reached the shootout in a 0-0 tie was December 6, 2005 when the Flyers beat Calgary 1-0. It was just the second shootout the Flyers had ever participated in, and was their first-ever win.
Ilya Bryzgalov recorded his 25th career shutout tonight by reaching the end of overtime without allowing a goal. He is just the third goaltender to reach that milestone in a Flyers uniform, joining Martin Biron and Bernie Parent. It’s Bryzgalov’s second shutout of the season.
The Flyers are now 3-5 this season when posting 40 or more shots and are 8-10-1 over the last two seasons when doing so.
Max Talbot was 10-for-13 tonight on faceoffs (77 percent) while Claude Giroux was 14-for-24 (58 percent).
This is the first time this season the Flyers have gone three consecutive games without recording a win.
The Flyers had 86 attempts on net tonight – 45 SOG, 24 shots that were blocked, and 17 that missed the net. ...
