Although the Flyers didn't officially name a goaltender until just about an hour from puck drop, it was pretty obvious that Peter Laviolette was going to roll with Ilya Bryzgalov against the New Jersey Devils in today's game.
Bryzgalov has faced the Devils only one time in his career; a 20-save shutout earlier this season.
Although he didn't record a shutout this afternoon, Bryzgalov may have played even better all-around game than he did back in October in the shutout. Bryz made save after save, including an impressive pad save on a rebound where he stretched his left leg out all the way to the far post to stop what looked to be an easy goal for the Devils.
Bryzgalov stopped 30 out of 31 shots that he faced (.968 save percentage), and has allowed just one goal in each of his last two starts.
