O'BURNED! (AP Photo/J Pat Carter)

*First reported by Denver Post’s Adrian Dater*

Tuesday night against the Wild will see the return of Ryan O’Byrne to the Avalanche lineup. O’Byrne hasnt played since Wednesday February 23rd when, in the first period against Edmonton, he took a blade to the face, which wound up requiring 100 stitches. O’Byrne has been an absolute force since coming over to the Avalanche in a trade. He only has six points in 46 games (all assist) but he also has 124 hits and 95 blocked shots in those contest. Although the Avalanche seem well eliminated from playoff contention O’Byrne can bring a fire back to the team and hopefully we can see them fight to the finish.

The other change to the lineup which has fans chanting hallelujahs is Peter Budaj getting the start in net. The sad thing about this whole situation is Brian Elliot sits in 37th in the NHL in both GAA and SV% while Budaj sits 36th in GAA and 34th in SV%. All this while Craig Anderson has a 1.56 GAA and a .952 SV% with Ottawa. July 1st, 2011 can’t come soon enough.
