Besides a few, rather small signings there hasn't been much news for the Bruins this off-season. Could this be a sign of something big to happen? As mentioned in my previous posts the Bruins need that scoring punch. They need that guy who can consistently put the puck in the net. Rumors have it that we are still in the Rick Nash hunt, but in my opinion Nash isn't worth what Columbus wants in return. There have also been rumors of an interest in Bobby Ryan, which I think would be the best decision. As said in my other blogs, I wouldn't mind us trading Krejci or Lucic for Bobby Ryan. Both Krejci and Lucic are solid players, but are inconsistent at times, the Bruins need a player who can play at that consistent level. Yes we got a maturing Seguin and an up and coming Dougie Hamilton to hopefully boost the horrendous power play, but it would be nice to see a big name player in the black and gold, but only if the price is right. Let's not forget the Bruins can try and ...

Rick Nash Not the Elite Difference-Maker Worthy of Price Blue Jackets Are Demanding in Trade Talks

Rick Nash asked for a trade in January. He was not dealt at the trade deadline in February, nor at the draft in June. Now it's nearly two weeks into the free agency period with Zach Parise and the bulk of the options for scoring help up front off the market, and Nash still remains property of the Columbus Blue Jackets. How could such an elite player be up for grabs this long...

Columbus Wants NHL Ready Forwards for Nash

Columbus Blue Jackets GM Scott Howson explains to TSN what he's looking for in return for Rick Nash..."If we do complete a trade, we're trading out a 30 to 40 goal scorer," said Howson. "Defence is probably the strongest part of our team if we look at it today, so we're looking to get some NHL forwards back first and foremost."...fine, Dubi and AA...

Geography Irrelevent for Ryan; Owners Strike First; Trade Market to Pickup? and McIlrath Mobile

Stan Fischler at MSG.com says geography will have no barring on where the Anaheim Ducks may trade Cherry Hill, New Jersey product Bobby Ryan this off-season..."Sounds good but in this case, geography and family roots are irrelevant. Ryan will go to the team that makes Anaheim the best offer; same as Nash in Columbus! Philly, New Jersey and New York may want Bobby but not ...

The Latest In The (Snail) Race For Rick Nash

It's a new day, which means that it is time for your daily, "Rick Nash trade talks are going absolutely nowhere," update. From Blue Jackets' beat writer Aaron Portzline: "The Blue Jackets are still trying to trade captain Rick Nash, but the last few days have been exceptionally quiet between Jackets GM Scott Howson and his potential trade partners... what...

Boston Bruins Not Likely To Trade For Rick Nash

Although the Boston Bruins are on the approved list of teams that Columbus Blue Jackets forward Rick Nash would accept a trade to, do not expect the 2011 Stanley Cup champions to make a push for the talented winger. Nash would love to play for the Bruins next season and beyond. He would be an instant upgrade to Boston’s offense, especially on their anemic power play...

Rangers Will Look Like Blue Jackets If They Trade for Nash; Your New York Football Rangers

Kevin McGran at the Toronto Star reports that the Rangers organization would have been gutted if they traded for Rick Nash at the trade deadline..."Other teams, notably the Rangers, refused such high demands at the trade deadline. It was noted recently to the Star by one Ranger front-office employee that Howson wanted so much, the Rangers would look like the Blue Jackets by...

Nash situation still unresolved

The NHL trade deadline came and went in late February, and so did the NHL draft in late June. The start of NHL free agency is now getting smaller and smaller in the rear view mirror, but Rick Nash -- who requested a trade in January -- is still a member of the Columbus Blue Jackets. How much longer can this go on? Blue Jackets GM Scott Howson remains resolute, insisting he won...

Nash, Semin, and Nashsemin

So we lost out on the guy that was supposed to rejuvenate a defensive corps that lost its best player, and one of the best defenseman to ever play the game. Ryan Suter didn't happen. And what is our defense going to do? I have Brendan Smith doing everything next year, so I'm not worried, but what we still haven't fixed is that forward sniper position. And no, I...

Could Bobby Ryan be the next Bruins sniper?

Ever since the Bruins traded former first round pick and sniper Phil Kessel in September 2009 to the Toronto Maple Leafs, the team hasn’t really had that true scoring forward that could consistently score 30 plus goals a year and be an effective force night and night out. With that, there have been several rumors flying around [...]

Bruins Could Dangle Tim Thomas in Effort to Land Rick Nash (Video)

The Bruins would love to acquire Rick Nash from the Columbus Blue Jackets. The 28-year-old forward wouldn't mind going to Boston either, as the Bruins were one of six teams on Nash's preferred trade list. The problem facing the Bruins -- as well as the Red Wings, Rangers, Flyers, Penguins and Sharks, who are the other five teams on the list -- is that Blue Jackets general...

Evening Line

“If you were walking by, you would’ve thought it was a high school paryt.  I’m talking booze, people randomly making out, everybody else cheering them on. And that was the PG stuff. Then everything went inside.” -Bobby Ryan explaining the atmosphere in the Vancouver Olympic Village after the Canada/USA gold medal game.  Much more on what really goes on (not hockey related...

James Van Riemsdyk Will Start at Centre for the Toronto Maple Leafs Training Camp

While some players, particularly power forward Rick Nash, don’t want to play hockey in Toronto because they feel their every move will be scrutinized, James van Riemsdyk can’t wait to become the centre of attention for the Maple Leafs, literally. The 6’3″, 200 pound forward spoke to reporters in Toronto on Wednesday for the [...]
