Found February 19, 2013 on Diehardsport:

Montreal Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty has had a rough start to the season.  He had to have an emergency appendectomy, was allegedly bitten by Mikhail Grabovsky and then endured a laceration to his ribs from a skate.  Pacrioretty had been unable to find the back of the net this year until fate gave him a lucky bounce. Late in the 3rd period he dumped a puck in from just behind the red line on Carolina Hurricanes goalie Cam Ward.  It skipped twice prior to getting to the net and bounced right past Ward.  Plays like this are difficult for goaltenders because bouncing pucks almost have a mind of their own.  When they’re on edge they can skip in any direction, particularly if they hit something on the ice.  It always seems to be a wacky goal that breaks a scoreless streak, and unfortunately for Ward, this play is destined for the SportsCenter Not Top 10. Cam Ward lets in the “whoops” goal of the night (VIDEO)

As they say in baseball, a bleeder through the infield will show up as a line drive in the scorebook.  This goal by Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty will show up as a wicked wrist in the book…at least that’s how Hurricanes goalie Cam Ward will want it to appear. Pacioretty will embellish the story and tell his grandkids that he scored from inside his team’s blue line.  Except...

Max Pacioretty scores first goal on dump-in from center ice (Video)

Montreal Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty scored his first goal of the season in the most unusual way possible, a dump-in from center ice, during the third period of Monday's game against the Carolina Hurricanes. Pacioretty's dump-in from the left wing somehow made it past Hurricanes goalie Cam Ward, just 18 seconds after Pacioretty recorded an assist on a goal from teammate...

The second line is in good hands with Jordan Staal

Some unfortunate news came earlier today when the Hurricanes announced that Jeff Skinner wasn't feeling well at practice today and would not be traveling with the team to Montreal for tomorrow's game. This will leave three key players out of the lineup with Tim Gleason and Joni Pitkanen also injured but that's hopefully only a short-term concern. More people are worried...

Carey Price makes nifty save on bench, sparing rinkside analyst’s face (video)

Just because Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price wasn’t between the pipes on Monday night for the Habs’ game against the Carolina Hurricanes doesn’t mean he wasn’t able to display some fancy glovework while watching the action on the ice while seated on the bench. During the second period, a puck off the stick of Hurricanes defenseman Jamie McBain (awesome name —...

Game 14 Scoring Chances: Hurricanes at Canadiens

Thanks to a plethora of injuries, the Hurricanes went into last night's game short on talent and forward depth and came away with their worst offensive performance of the season. Carolina's injury depleted lineup created only nine even strength scoring chances, four of which coming in the final two minutes of the second period, and eleven overall. Both are season lows for...

Depleted Hurricanes lineup falls short in Montreal

There weren't a lot of Hurricanes fans who were expecting the team to win tonight given the roster they were dressing. It's hard to expect much when your team is missing three top players along with one of their key special teams contributors. When said players are being replaced with guys from the AHL (one of which was jetted to the game on the same day), it was very important...

Welcome Back Brandon Prust!

Tonight marks Brandon Prust's return to MSG for the first time since signing a 4-year, $10 million contract with the Canadiens this past offseason. Prust was an all heart player, who thrived in John Tortorella's forechecking system and obviously became a fan favorite instantly. 67% of TheNYRBlog readers feel Prust doesn't deserve a tribute video before the game...

Goalie Makes Save on the Bench, Saves Reports Face (Video)

It's not often you see a save from the bench, but Carey Price may have made the best save of the NHL season while not even playing.  Fortunately for former Canadiens’ goalie and current RDS analyst, Marc Denis, Price was sitting in front of him on his night off and saved a rogue puck from nailing him in the grill.   Check out the video below.  Sadly for us we don'...

Hurricanes win streak snapped vs. Canadiens

MONTREAL (AP) -- Michel Therrien's lessons about finishing off games appear to be paying off for the Canadiens. Tomas Plekanec and Max Pacioretty scored 18 seconds apart in the third period to seal Montreal's fourth straight win, a 3-0 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday night. Pacioretty added an assist and Brandon Prust also scored for Montreal in the third...

Game 15: Rangers vs. Canadiens

Richard Wolowicz/Getty Images North America Tonight, the Montreal Canadiens come to town, and it’s the return of old friend Brandon Prust. Prust is expected to get a warm welcome from the fan base, but once the puck drops, all that goes away. The Canadiens have given the Rangers trouble in the past, but this is a different Ranger team that is built on speed and forechecking. The...

Goal Breakdown: Canadiens at Rangers

This could have been one of the most boring games I have ever seen. The teams combined for just 13 shots in the first, 25 total through the second, and very little offense. In the end, the Canadiens took advantage of two big Ranger miscues, while the Rangers couldn’t take advantage of the 27 icings the Canadiens took. The Habs won a boring game against a shorthanded Rangers team...
