HabsAddict.com:
Any slim hope of making the post-season - and they were very slim to begin with - evaporated further as the Canadiens fell to the struggling Buffalo Sabres.
While the Habs managed to play a decent first period, even jumping to an early lead courtesy of Max Pacioretty, they offered mostly abysmal hockey for the final two periods.
As a result, the Sabres capitalized, scoring three unanswered...

Pierre McGuire A Great Match For GM Job In Montreal
from MitchMelnick.com, I’m not going to step aside over some supposed professional code. I sincerely believe that Pierre McGuire would do a terrific job as an NHL General Manager. And I think it’s about bloody time somebody in this town talked to him about the GM post of the Montreal Canadiens.
I believe that Pierre is the best hockey analyst in the business. Almost too good...
Markov skates, Moen sits
Andrei Markov skated today, for the first time in basically two months, a 15 minute solo session that suggests he is still quite far away from returning to the lineup. For those counting, it has been 14 months since Markov last laced them up n an NHL game.
Another missing Hab, Ryan White, actually practiced over the past couple of days and appears close to a return. However, he...
Habs/Sabres, Comebacks, Rumors and More
Morning puck fans!
Well, that was rough last night. The 3-1 score, which featured an empty netter for Patrick Kaleta, is not quite indicative of the game.
With the Sabres getting 40 shots in the contest, it was never really that close.
Thank goodness Carey Price was not playing looking towards the glass or it could have been far worse.
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the league...
Sabres Start Off Home Stretch With A Big Win
It has been two-and-a-half months since the Buffalo Sabres could say that they posted back-to-back wins – until now. In their first game back from the all-star break, Buffalo started sloppy, but picked up their play has they took care of the Montreal Canadians 3-1 at the Bell Centre in Montreal Tuesday night. It was Buffalo’s second straight road win after losing 12-straight...
This Day In Hockey History (1/31)
Sure the All Star Break was nice but hey its time to get back to work. What do we have for "This Day"? Let's find out. Being the last day of January and all, the search for moments was not very hard at all as the inbox was filled with some good classics. When all was said and done, the choice was very clear however. The Montreal Canadiens had a phenomenal...
Habs/Sabres, AHL ASG, Replacing PG, White's Return and More
Morning Hab fans!
After five days, yes five whole days, without meaningful hockey, the Canadiens return to the ice tonight to face the struggling Buffalo Sabres.
The last time nos Canadiens laced up, they trounced perennial power house Detroit 7-2.
The game was so long ago and the result so unexpected, almost feels like a dream doesn't it?
Meanwhile, down in the AHL...
GARTH: Staff Infection?
6:55pm
Its likely that Drew Stafford is the unidentified Sabres forward who was under the weather this morning.
If its the case, then #kickassian will skate with Ennis and Gerbe. Luke Adam will skate in place of Vanek.
The pre game twirl is moments away. I'll confirm for you then.

Gaustad's 3 points spark Sabres by Habs (AP)
Paul Gaustad had a goal and two assists to lead the Buffalo Sabres to a 3-1 win over the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday night. Montreal Canadiens (19-22-9) at New Jersey Devils (27-19-3), 7 p.m. (ET)
The Devils opened up their second half by picking up a big two points over one of the top teams in the conference. The Canadiens, meanwhile, failed to build off their win against the top team in the NHL right before the All-Star break.
