Lord Stanley's Blog:
Patrick O'Sullivan and Sergei Samsonov scored second-period goals and Erik Cole added an empty netter in the final minute of the game as the Canes beat the Nashville Predators 3-1 in their second preseason game and first on the road.
Canes goaltender Justin Peters stopped 27 shots for the victory, allowing a goal midway the first to J.P. Dumont but shutting out the Preds the rest of the way.
O'Sullivan tied the score 1-1 at 4:46 of the second on a Zac Dalpe assist. Samsonov got the game-winner on the power play at 15:34, knocking in the rebound of an Eric Staal shot.
Staal also assisted on Cole's goal. Defenseman Bobby Sanguinetti had two assists for the Canes, who lost their preseason opener 4-1 Tuesday to the Florida Panthers.
The Canes and Preds (0-1 preseason) play again Friday night at the RBC Center. Justin Pogge will start in goal for the Canes.
