Ryan Stanton will never forget his first National Hockey League goal and he’ll always remember who assisted on it: Daniel and Henrik Sedin.
“That’s pretty special” Stanton said of his third-period goal Thursday on Ryan Miller at the First Niagara Center.
“Two superstar NHLers like that. They are so good and I was just lucky enough to get in the slot there they got me the puck and I made a pretty good shot and got a goal.”
Stanton was clutching the puck in the Vancouver dressing room after the Canucks’ 3-0 win over the Buffalo Sabres and the rookie defenceman said he knows where it’s going.
He initially said he’d send it to his parents Don and Deanne in St. Albert Alta. Then he said he might wait and hold onto it for a while.
“I think my mom and dad are going to try and come down (to Vancouver) after the road trip and kind of get me settled in so I might wait until then and keep a close eye on it” he said.
