According to Matthew Barry, Los Angeles Kings blogger for Hockey Buzz, the Chicago Blackhawks and the Los Angeles Kings are discussing a trade that would send Kings' forward Alexander Frolov to the Blackhawks.
Going to the Kings would be forward Kris Versteeg and defenseman Cam Barker.
The "hang up" in the deal, according to Barry, is that the Blackhawks want a young defenseman from the Kings along with Frolov.
I would have to say that if the Blackhawks were to trade Versteeg and Barker to the Kings just for Frolov there would be an immediate uproar from Chicago Blackhawks fans.
Yes Frolov is a very talented forward and probably more talented than Kris Versteeg, but if the Blackhawks cannot get a defenseman in return for the likes of Barker and Versteeg then you cannot do this deal.
The Blackhawks are already very thin on the defensive front and with the subtraction of Barker the Blackhawks would signal a glaring hole in the team.
