The Rangers say that no defensive call-ups are expected presently.

...with Sauer out, we may see a drop in Del Zotto's game who has relied on his defensive partner as a security blanket.

Andrew Gross reports that Michael Sauer, who did not practice today, sustained a concussion from the hit he sustained Monday night from Dion Phaneuf and is day-to-day.

...let the Anton Stralman era begin.

Gross adds that for tomorrow's game against the Lightning, Steve Eminger will be bumped up to the second defensive pair with Michael Del Zotto, who is feeling ok after his crash into the boards Monday night, and Anton Stralman will be inserted into the line-up and play with Jeff Woywitka.

...it's hard enough to compensate when you lose your top defenseman, but when another in your top four goes down the Rangers may have to look outside the organization for help if Sauer is going to miss a significant amount of time. Especially with Erixon hurt.

Also at practice today, the Rangers report that Mike Rupp practiced with the team for the first time since his knee surgery but he was in a non-contact jersey.
