According to multiple reports, the Nashville Predators could welcome forward Alexander Radulov back to the team as early as this season. Those putting fire on the rumor include TSN’s Darren Dreger and Bob McKenzie, as well as Dmitry Chesnokov of the Yahoo! Sports hockey blog, Puck Daddy.

From Chesnokov:

Radulov’s RUS agent didn’t deny that Radulov may indeed come to the NHL THIS season when talking 2 @plysenkov; didn’t want 2 comment. #Preds

From McKenzie:

IF Alex Radulov was inclined to return to NHL THIS season, it’s my understanding, subject to NHLPA approval, he would be eligible to play in both regular season and playoffs for NSH without being subjected to waiver process.

The same rumor arises at this time each year, but it never ends up coming to fruition. That is something that Dreger was quick to point out on Twitter this evening.

Understandably, Nashville has persistantly tried to lure Radulov back and the KHL often responds with more $ to keep him.

Radulov headed off to Russia’s Kontinental Hockey League in 2008 after spending two seasons with the Predators. There, he has 254 points in 210 career regular season games. In the NHL meanwhile, Radulov had 95 points in 145 career regulars season games.

Getting ready for the post-season, the Predators would love to welcome Radulov back. In fact, Nashville general manager David Poile once referred to Radulov as “the best player not playing in the NHL.” Only time will tell if Radulov will return to Nashville.
