Lone Star Hockey:
On Tuesday, Dallas Stars General Manager Joe Nieuwendyk decided to fire Dallas Stars Head Coach Marc Crawford. I did some research and found out Ken Hitchcock the man who was the head coach when Dallas won their first and only Stanley Cup is unemployed. Nieuwendyk played for Hitchcock on the Dallas Stars team that won the Stanley Cup in 1998-1999 and the same Stars team that made the Stanley Cup a year later only to lose to the New Jersey Devils.
The Columbus Blue Jackets fired Hitchcock in February of 2010, and Hitchcock has had a year off of coaching and will be looking for more work so this transaction makes sense. The Columbus Blue Jackets did worse without Ken Hitchcock and their players did not suffer injuries and Colombus was 23-27 when they fired Hitchcock in 2010. That Blue Jackets team had injury issues while this years Blue Jacket’s team just had no guidance and struggled to execute at times.
