GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Center Martin Hanzal scored his third goal in as many games, and goalie Mike Smith earned his second consecutive win as the defending Pacific Division champion Phoenix Coyotes recorded a 2-1 victory over the Minnesota Wild on Monday. Hanzal gave the Coyotes (4-4-2) a 2-0 lead at 7:48 of the second period. Smith held off the Wild the rest of the way, giving up only a goal to Zach Parise after a defensive giveaway midway through the second period. The Coyotes have eight points in their past five games during a stretch in which they have played seven of their first 10 games at home. Minnesota (4-4-1) has not won in four road games this season, and the Wild went 15:34 without getting a shot before putting one on Smith with eight minutes left in the third period.
