Found April 26, 2013 on Hockey Fan Land:
The Pittsburgh Penguins could have Sidney Crosby (jaw) back for the start of the postseason. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports Crosby has been cleared for practice, and a return for Game 1 of the playoffs hasn't been ruled out.  Expected to take part in practice Friday, Crosby will require additional clearance from the Penguins' medical folks before re-joining the lineup next week. Game 1 -- which the Pens will host -- is expected to be scheduled for next Wednesday. Crosby has been recovering from a broken jaw since taking a puck to the face March 30.Many hockey experts, including myself, believe the Pittsburgh Penguins are the heavy favorites to win the Stanley Cup.  A big factor in that happening of course, is the health of the NHL's best player, Sidney Crosby. However, it's not just the player many people consider the face of the NHL that the Pens have to be concerned about, pretty much all of their top players of spent time in the sick bay this season. Report: Sidney Crosby to Seek Medical Clearance to Resume Playing in Time for Playoffs

It’s going to take a lot more than a broken jaw suffered less than a month ago to keep Sidney Crosby out of the playoffs. The Penguins’ star hasn’t played since March 30, when he took a puck to the mouth and underwent major surgery, but according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Crosby is expected to seek medical clearance Thursday or Friday to get back on the ice. If he gets...

Crosby practices, return uncertain

Pittsburgh Penguins star Sidney Crosby has returned to practice, but his status for next week's playoff opener remains uncertain. Crosby hasn't played since breaking his jaw last month. He took part in non-contact drills on Friday, wearing a protective facemask that he'll likely keep on for the duration of the postseason. The NHL's second-leading scorer says he...

Crosby set to return for Game 2

It's game on for Sidney Crosby. The Penguins' star says he will play Friday night in Game 2 of the playoff series with the New York Islanders after missing more than a month with a broken jaw. Crosby skated with usual linemates Pascal Dupuis and Chris Kuntiz on Friday morning and expects to be in the lineup as Pittsburgh tries to go up 2-0 in the best-of-seven series. Crosby...

Penguins Update: No To-Morrow for Brenden

With all due respect to Jarome Iginla, Jussi Jokinen, and Douglas Murray, my favorite Penguins acquisition at the 2013 trade deadline was Brenden Morrow.Call me old school, but ever since “Scary” Gary Roberts left the ‘Burgh during the summer of 2008 I’ve felt the Pens have lacked a certain element. Call it “functional snarl,” if you will. I knew the 34-year-old Morrow...

Hurricanes end season with 8-3 loss to Penguins

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Penguins appear to be getting healthy at just the right time. James Neal scored three goals in his first game back from a concussion and the Penguins snapped a two-game skid with an 8-3 victory over Jordan Staal and the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday night. "It was nice to get out there and get a game in before the playoffs," Neal said. "...

Will Clarkson Remain With The Devils?

from Tom Gulitti of Fire & Ice, Clarkson said he hasn’t thought about whether tonight’s game against the Pittsburgh Penguins could be his last home game as a Devil. After facing the Penguins, the Devils close out the season Saturday afternoon against the Rangers at Madison Square Garden and Clarkson doesn’t know what will happen after that. “I haven’t really...

it's an imaginary crown

This season.  What to even say about it?  It feels like a strange dream, an alternate universe.  In which Jussi Jokinen, Jarome Iginla, Brenden Morrow, and Douglas Murray are all Pens.  (It's a shame they're here for a short time--we've only just gotten used to their fuzzy faces burrowed in our hearts.)  Being tops in the East is a weird feeling.  Being "regular...
