I have been a Caps fan since birth. I have watched almost every playoff game they have played in their history. We have to be the unluckiest team in the history of the NHL. How teams like Tampa and Carolina win Stanley Cups while the Caps hit posts and have overtime shots go in off their own guys is just beyond heartbreaking. Sergei Fedorov made a great poke check on the winning rush, of course the puck goes right back to Malkin. Dave Steckel has a wide open net... of course the puck is rolling. Of course, of course, of course. In fact, Fedorov wasn't even supposed to be on the ice. He was the one who committed the penalty on Malkin that gave Pitt the PP. Jurcina was actually called for it and him being in the box and John Erskine shaken up from a hit into the boards a couple minutes earlier forced Feds to be on the ice. Not that I blame him one bit, but just another example of horrendous luck. It sucks being a Caps fan. Yeah, the future may be bright and somehow they may finally get to the promised land, but the present and the past sucks. Just sucks. We don't deserve the horrible luck this franchise seems to have. They are every bit as good as the Penguins. That is why this series has been so damn close. Give credit to Pitt. They are damn good and maybe one day the Caps will be able to beat those guys. Maybe one day the bad bounces will go the Penguins way. Maybe one day the pucks will start to go in for the Caps. I am beyond impatient. Their backs are again up against the wall, but you know, I don't think they are going to come back this time. The losses in Game 3 and 5 are just demorilizing and series enders and I don't blame the Caps for feeling that way. This team is cursed.
