Even though I was right about the Blackhawks winning this game, I wonder if the outcome would have been different. Dallas opted to start Andrew Raycroft over Kari Lethonen giving Lehtonen more rest before a 3 game home stand against Phoenix, St. Louis, and Dallas.
Raycroft was 26 for 30 with save opportunities. I realize that the Stars may have lost with Lehtonen, but at least start him to make it a contest. Dallas trailed 4 to 1 before Dallas made it a 4 to 2. It would have been 2 to 2 if Lehtonen was playing instead of Raycroft.
Dallas’s PK allowed an early goal. Overall the Stars PK is 10 for 11 on the year. Dallas has recorded 69 hits by body checking, poke checking, and fore checking in their first two games. If their PK unit can play this well while the Stars maintain their aggressive defensive play this team has a chance to make a playoff run potentially getting an 8 seed.
