DC Pro Sports Report:
Time for an updated DC Pro Sports Report stock report. Let's take a look at who's stock is UP and who's stock is DOWN.
F Matt Hendricks: The gutsy and gritty forward for the Washington Capitals has been one of the most consistent players in this awful start to a season. One thing you can't do is question the effort of Hendricks. He has stood up for fights to fire his team up, plays and skates hard each shift, and tries to stir up the Caps. Hendricks also isn't afraid to take a beating and hang out in front of the opposing net. It's called net presence. Wish others would do it. Unfortunately for Hendricks, there is just too much going wrong for the Washington Capitals right now.
F Mike Ribeiro: Ribeiro has 6 points in 6 games. He lead the Washington Capitals in assists and overall points. He has been consistent on offense and has provided what the Caps expected of him.
F Joel Ward: Again, you can see the descriptions of...

Washington Capitals defenseman John Erskine elbowed Philadelphia Flyers right winger Wayne Simmonds in the face, yet received no penalty, during the first period of Friday night's NHL game at the Verizon Center. Simmonds had to leave the game with a bloody nose and did not return to the game. Erskine will likely be facing a multiple game suspension from the NHL for his cheap...
Where can Caps fans place the blame? The Washington Capitals are arguably noted as one of the most dominant hockey teams in recent years during the regular season, but has a huge monkey on their backs for not being able to reach the Stanley cup during the Alexander Ovechkin era. Since the 2007-08 season, the Capitals have amassed a 237-125-48 record; finishing first in the division...
Washington Capitals superstar Alexander Ovechkin’s on-ice productivity may have tapered off the past few seasons, but the left winger remains a lethal offensive force on the ice and is still a feared player with the puck on his tape.
It is well-known and well-documented that Ovie is a good-time guy who knows how to enjoy his time off the ice, but unbeknownst to me until just recently...
The Washington Capitals have acquired minor league forwards Peter LeBlanc and Casey Wellman in a pair of trades.
The Capitals got LeBlanc from Chicago in exchange for future considerations. The 24-year-old has four goals and eight assists in 34 games this season with Rockford of the American Hockey League.

After finishing 2011 with the best record in the East, the Washington Capitals took a step back last season as they tied Ottawa for the fewest points among playoff teams before getting bounced in the first round by the New York Rangers. With Alexander Ovechkin finishing 2012 with a career-worst 65 points, his first time below a point-per-game pace during his...

He has played in 40 games this season with the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey...
Troy Brouwer and Wojtek Wolksi scored third-period goals, and Braden Holtby made 29 saves in the Washington Capitals' 3-2 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Friday night.
Niklas Backstrom had a goal and an assist for Washington (2-5-1), which had lost two straight.
Defenseman Bruno Gervais, and Brayden Schenn scored for the Flyers (2-6), who have lost three in a row.
Let’s face it, this whole Adam Oates this is not working out for the Washington Capitals. The rookie NHL head coach is off to a 1-5-1 start. He is playing superstar Alex Ovechkin on a line with two muckers. He buried 2012 playoff hero Braden Holtby after two starts in goal, starting Michal Neuvirth in the nets for the next five games. (Holtby will start tonight’s game against...
With the Washington Capitals struggling to get traction for the start of this season, Caps owner Ted Leonsis was on WTOP today to take caller questions. When asked about the Caps and Alex Ovechkin's season start, Leonsis held nothing back.
“Well, we’re concerned too,” Leonsis said. “I’m not so sure that [team] scoring’s gonna be an issue, but it has been...

The Washington Capitals are in Toronto, Ontario this evening to take on the Maple Leafs in a critical matchup of Eastern Conference teams this evening. The Capitals, who blew their last game in Ottawa despite leading 2-0, are 1-4-1 and have looked out of sync; they are fourth in the Southeast...
